HomeMy Public PortalAbout6/17/1994 specialGREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL • Special Session June 17, 1994 The Greencastle Common Council met in special session on Friday, June 17, 1994 at 3:00 p.m. at the Putnam County Courthouse. On call of the roll the following members were shown to be present: Councilor Tom Roach, Councilor Jerry Calbert, Councilor Charles Miles, Councilor Mike Rokicki. Councilor Sue Murray was absent. Also present was City Attorney John Zeiner. Public Petitions and Comments: Leslie Hanson of the park board asked about hiring an engineer for the rest room project at the park. The Mayor indicated that further discussion would occur with Joe Woody and John Zeiner. Recommendations and Requests from Officers and Departments: Ordinance 1994 -8, An Ordinance Approving the Request of Opportunity Housing, Inc. to Vacate Platted Lots, Streets, Alleys within Silver Survey (Yorkshire Subdivision), was presented and read in its entirety by Mayor Harmless. Councilor Rokicki moved to approve Ordinance 1994 -8 as presented. This motion was seconded by Councilor Calbert and was carried by an aye unanimous vote of members present. Mayor Harmless declared Ordinance 1994 -8 to have been passed and adopted this date. Ordinance 1994 -9, An Ordinance to Rezone Blocks 1, 2 and 5 Silvers Survey, Railroad Enlargement, was presented and read in its entirety by Mayor Harmless. Councilor Rokicki moved to approve Ordinance 1994 -9 as presented. This motion was seconded by Councilor Calbert and was carried by an aye unanimous vote of members present. Mayor Harmless declared Ordinance 1994 -9 to have been passed and adopted this date. Ordinance 1994 -6, An Ordinance of the City of Greencastle Authorizing the Issuance of Sewage Works Revenue Bonds forthe Purpose of Providing Funds to Pay the Cost of Certain Additions, Extensions • and Improvements to the Municipal Sewage Works of said City, Providing the Safeguarding of the Interests of the Owners of said Bonds, Other Matters connected therewith, including the Issuance of Notes in Anticipation of Bonds, and Repealing Ordinances Inconsistent herewith, was presented and read by title only by Mayor Harmless. Councilor Rokicki moved to approve Ordinance 1994 -6 as presented. This motion was seconded by Councilor Roach. Discussion ensued concerning the bid numbers as received from Thursday's bid opening. Councilor Roach moved to amend the parameters of the bond ordinance to indicate a total project cost of $1,975,000.00 and a maximum bond issue of $1,660,000.00. The amending motion was seconded by Councilor Rokicki and was carried by an aye unanimous vote of members present. Councilor Rokicki then called for the question on the motion to approve Ordinance 1994 -6 as amended. The motion was carried by the following vote: AYES: Councilor Rokicki NAYS: Councilor Calbert Councilor Roach Councilor Miles Mayor Harmless declared Ordinance 1994-6 to have been passed and adopted this date. With no further business Councilor Roach moved for adjournment. This motion was seconded by Councilor Rokicki, was carried by an aye unanimous vote of members present, and the meeting was adjourned at 4:10 p.m. / � 4 Michael M.
