Motion was made by Mr. Preze to approve the October 11, 2017 task force minutes. Seconded
by Ms. Vaughn. Motion carried.
Mr. Schaefer asked staff to present the agenda item Economic Development Strategic Planning.
Mr. Melrose provided the staff report in regards to the update to the Village’s Business Plan
specific to the development of multi-family housing opportunities. The report provided a layout
and general direction of the update to the business plan highlight the goals and objects of
economic development as well as residential market overviews, residential development trends
and opportunities, and recruitment focus.
The task force provided feedback that they would like to have a joint meeting with the village
board that would first reintroduce them to the Board before providing all the data presented in
the staff report.
Mr. Preze suggested that the presentation be first to explain the roles of the task force,
introduce the members, overview of activities, and then a discussion of the multi-family
development components as it relates to density downtown and workforce housing.
Mr. Schaefer suggested that pulling information from the Springs on 127th such as crime
statistics, school impacts, etc. would be a plus as the discussion moves forward.
The task force agreed on this approach to the presentation and concluded that the January 22nd
may be a possible joint meeting target date for the committee of the whole meeting. The task
force would try to reconvene in December as Mr. Melrose would provide a draft presentation to
review.
Mr. Preze made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Mr. O’Rourke. All in favor.
