September 18, 1989
A special meeting for personnel action was held at City Hall on
Monday, September 18, 1989. Mayor Walter Parker presided and the following
members of Council were present: Jean Davis, Chris Solomon, Jack Youmans,
John O'Neill and Paul Jackson.
It was agreed that a request for an advance for tuition at Armstrong
College for Major Woods of TIPD who is working toward a degree in Criminal
Justice, be approved provided it is approved by Chief McCutchen, and that is
is treated as an advance, with repayment to the city unless the course is
satisfactorily completed.
A raise for the Clerk of Council was approved, contingent upon 1) an
evaluation, and 2) the amount be approximately 10 %.
A raise for the City Marshall was approved at 10 %, with evaluation.
Vivian Maxey, a temporary supervisor for parking, was given permanent
status, to be paid by Parking and General Government, 50% from each department.
It was agreed that she will work on computerizing the parking, complete work
on the City Code inhouse, and do other computer operator duties as assigned.
It was also agreed that the duties of insurance clerk could be added upon com-
pletion of the work on the City Code.
A review of a new monthly report, payroll changes, was offered to the
Council. This report will allow all Councilmembers to see all changes that
have taken place in the payroll for each period - hires, terminations, rate
changes, etc. and will be available each month in future.
