HomeMy Public PortalAbout19891128CCMeeting1 Tybee Island, Georgia November 28, 1989 Mayor pro tem Paul Jackson called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. as Mayor Parker is out of town in Atlanta at the League of Cities Conference. Councilmembers present were Jean Davis, Bill Walsh, Jack Youmans and Chris Solomon. Mayor elect Hosti, Council elect Pat Locklear, Jeff Dukes and Jimmy Brown were in the audience. Councilmember Jean Davis read off line item by line item the General Government and Special Appropriation /Other Government Expense budget. Rowena Fripp, City Administrator, read a letter from the Tybee News asking for $70.00 added to their supplement each month. This amount was added to the budget. Under special events line item it was requested that $15,000.00 be added to cover fire works and festivals held during the year. Councilman Youmans stated that we give a portion of the Hotel /Motel taxes to the Tybee Council of the Savannah Area of Chamber of Commerce and this type of things should come out of that money. Councilman Bill Walsh then read the Water /Sewer budget. Mrs. Davis questioned that no money was there for their part of the computer yearly payment. Mr. Walsh rearranged some of the line items to put $5,000.00 in for the computer payment. Chief David McCutchen then presented the Police Department budget. He gave justification for each line item. Councilman Youmans requested that the line item coffee expense be added back into the General Government budget. This was done. General Government Police Department Water /Sewer Dept. - $251,716.00 — This amount includes the fire enforcement monies from the Fire Dept. budget. - $597,586.72 - $506,657.56 As there was no further discussion Mayor Pro tem Paul Jackson closed the Budget Hearings.
