At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council, held in the Council
Chamber, on January 27, 1936, there were present E. N. Bradfibld, Mayor, Roscoe B.
Rhoads, Recorder; Herbert Howard, Harry F. Newton, W. Emory Plaster, Roger D. Shroy
and Joseph H. Turley, Cokjncilmen.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid:- Ill

• On motion of Councilman Plaster, duly seconded, Mrs. A. F. Rogers was
granted permission to use the Mayor's Office, in the Town Hall Building, for the
issuance• of the Virginia State Automobile Tags, for 1936, with the understanding
that the Mayor and Town Council mould assume no responsibility, whatever, for any .,•
losses that might be incurred. The Recorder was instructed to write Mrs. Rogers
accordingly.
• Mayor Bradfield returned to the Council the cancelled Water Bond, which
was ordered paid at the meeting of January 13, 1936, and same was handed to the
Town Sergeant to be filed in the safe.
Messrs. James deZerega and J. W. Howard, of the Virginia Public Service
Co., appeared before the Council, and advised that there had never been a contract
for the lighting of the streets of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia. They sub-
mitted
a contract for the consideration of the Council, which was discussed at some
length, and deoided to hold the matter under further consideation, until the next
meetitg;of the Council.
A map of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, which was prepared• by Mr.
E. Marshall Rust, of the Rust Engineering Company, was presented to the Council
by Mayor Bradfield, on behalf of Mr. Rust. The map shows the residence numbers
of the houses throughout the Town, and it is the intention, in due course of time,
to have all of the houses properly numbered. On motion of Councilman Howard, du- •
ly seconded and carried, a vote of thanks was extended to Mr. Rust for the prep-
arration of the map, and the Recordercwas instructed to convey the thanks of the
Council to him.
The contract of Mr. G. W. Hume, who has rented a room in the Town Hall
building, was presented to the Council, approved and handed to the Town Sergeant
to be filed in the safe.
It was moved by Councilman Plaster, duly seconded and carried, that the
Recorder send a bill to the V. Saplon Co., Brunswick, Maryland, for rent for the
month of January, 1936, in the amount of $30.00.
There being no further business; on motion, the Council adjourned.
