CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
RESOLUTION 10 -2007
A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE CITY OF RICHMOND AS A PRESERVE
AMERCIA COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, The City of Richmond, Indiana recognizes and supports historic and
cultural preservation as a key component of economic vitality and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, in 2006, the City of Richmond emphasized in its Comprehensive Plan the value of
preserving historic districts and buildings; and
WHEREAS, Preserve America is a White House initiative developed in cooperation with the
Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the U.S.
Department of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, the goals of this initiative include a greater shared knowledge about our Nation's
past, strengthened regional uniqueness and local participation in the preservation of
culture and heritage; and
WHEREAS, this initiative is compatible with our community's interests and goals related to
historic preservation; and
WHEREAS, designation as a Preserve America Community will improve our community's
ability to protect and promote its historical resources.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council of Richmond, Indiana
supports the application to have the City of Richmond designated as a Preserve America
Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Richmond shall be designated as a
Preserve America Community.
Passed and adopted this _ 15 th _ day of _ October 2007, by the Common
Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
