At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Toren Council of the town of Lees-
burg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber, on Monday, December 28, 1936, at
7:30 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, recorder;
and Soy M. Flippo, Herbert howard, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Ilewton, Louis
C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen: Tows: Auditor S. Reed Galleher was
also in attendance. •
The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Letters from the Auditor of Public Accounts, Richmond, Virginia, and
T. Coleman Andrews,& Co., C. P. A., Richmond, Virginia, and a telegram from A. M.
Pullen & Company, Richmond, Virginia, relative to an audit of the books of the
town for the years 1933-4-5-6, and the installation of a modern bookkeeping system
were read to the Council. Mr. L. D. Andrews, of the firm of T. Coleman Andrews
& Co., appeared before the Council and stated that from information he had re-
ceived, little would be gained from an audit, until after a competent bookkeeper
had been employed and all records of the town kept. On motion of Councilman
Howard, seconded by Councilman newton and unanimously carried, it was ordered that
a committee be appointed to ascertain the cost of procuring a bookkeeper, the du-
ties to be expected of him, etc., and report back at the next meeting of the Coun-
cil. The Mayor appointed Councilmen Howard and Rollins.
The following bill was read5approved and ordered paid:-

Fire Chief Atwell brought to the attention of the Uouncil that there
was some discarded fire hose that could be sold, and upon motion of Councilman
. xollins, seconded by Councilman Flippo, and unanimously carried, -the matter of
disposing of discarded fire hose and couplings be left in the hands of the Fire
Committee.
There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.

On motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Newton, and un-
animously carried, it was ordered that one of the Water Bonds, in the amount of
$1,000.00, with interest to January 15, 1937, be retired.
The recorder read a letter from the Virginia State Chamber of Commerce,
requesting a donation of $25.00 to be used in a campaign to attract northern in-
dustries to establish plants throughout the state.
It was moved by Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Newton, and
unanimously carried, that the Water Committee be instructed to have the auxil-
liary pump repaired.

unanimously carried, Dr. James T. Jackson was granted parking space in front of
his residence at #205 North Ring Street.
