At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the town of Lees- burg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber, on Monday, March 8, 1937, at 7:30 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, Record- er; and Roy M. Flippo, Herbert Howard, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Louis C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen. • • The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid:- Virginia Public Service Co., (Mayor's Office & Fire House) - - $ 14.75 ^ " ^ (White Way Lighting) 89.50 (Street Lighting) 118.36 • " ^ " (General Pumping) 192.64 (Harrison Pumping) 1.00 Herman Mottley, 36.00 C. Chevrolet Sales,- 9.09 General Electric Co., 5.46 Virginia Public Service Co., 1.63 Leesburg Lime & Fuel Corporation, 43.06 • $560.42 A delegation of the Leesburg Fire Co., with Chief Louis F. Atwell, as spokesman, appeared before the Council and advised that the company was desirous of replacing the #1 pumper with a new and more modern piece of fire fighting equipment, and solicited the aid of the Council in procuring the same. After quite some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Howard, seconded by Councilman Rollins, and unanimously carried, that the matter be laid on the table until the next meeting of the Council, and that in the meantime, each member of the Coun- cil should give the matter consideration. On motion of Councilman Newton, seconded by Councilman Turley, and un- animously carried, the Mayor appointed the entire Council a committee to investi- gate the opening between the property of Mr. Newton and the warehouse of Mr. D. F. Hagins, on E. Loudoun Street, through to South Street,. and report back to the Council the advisability of providing a street thereon, provided the proper right of way could be obtained.
