HomeMy Public PortalAbout1937_03_24SPEC 5 : The Town Sergeant reported to Council that Mrs. India Titus, 401 North King Street, had requested sufficient discarded curbing, which she would have set (at her own expense) on the Union Street side of her premises, and upon mo- tion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Howard, and unanimously car- ried, the request was granted. There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned. . e-C-Ciwer-M--"2-1--- t RECORDER. • At a special meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the town of Lees- burg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Wednesday, March 24, 1937, at 7:30 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; xoscoe B. Rhoads, Recorder; and Roy M. Flippo, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Louis C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen. . The meeting was called by order of !lotion of Councilman Howard, at the regular meeting of March 22, 1937, to give further consideration to the awarding of the contract for the hauling of garbage. Mr. G. F. Kitts appeared before Council, and,. after some questinning, as to Mr. Kitts' ability to fulfill his contract, should it be awarded to him, it was moved by Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Newton, and unanimous- I ly carried, that the contract for hauling garbage be awarded to G. F. Kitts, at $750.00 per year, provided bond can be procured, acceptable to the Town Attor- ney. . Also on motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Hutchison, and unanimously carried, it was ordered that the Mayor and Town Attorney pre- pare and receive the, contract and bond of Mr. G. F. Kitts, for the hauling of garbage. There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.l ��/- RECORDER. Mayor Bradfield explained to the Council that he had called the spe- cial meeting to give further consideration to the contract for the hauling of garbage, awarded at the special meeting of March 24, 1937, to Mr. G. F. Kitts. Mr. Kitts was again called before Council and explained that he had • been unable, to date, to procure bond through a bonding company, but had Mr. G. W. Hume to act as bondsman for him. After some discueexion by the Coun-
