M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, Recorder; and Roy M. Flippo, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Louis C. Rollins and Jos- eph H. Turley, Councilmen. Town Auditor S. Reed Galleher appeared before Council and presented . the tentative budget for the town for the year ending February 28, 1938. After the budget was presented and thoroughly discussed by the Coun- cil, it was moved by Councilman Hutchison, seconded by Councilman Newton, and unanimously carried, that the tentative budget be passed, and finally adopted, at the meeting on May 24, 1937, and it was ordered that thesame be published in the Loudoun Times-Mirror on April 22, 1937, and in the Loudoun News on May 13, 1937. On motion of Councilman Hutchison, seconded by Councilman Flippo, and unanimously carried, Mr. J. D. Taylor vas granted permission to purchase town water, at the usual rate, for his residence, west of Leesburg, provided that satisfactory arrangements could be made with Mr. Frank E. Ellmore, the original owner of the water line. There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned. A RECORDER. • At a regular meeting of theMayor and Town Council of the town of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday, April 26, 1937, at 7:30 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, Recorder; and Roy M. Flippo, Harry F. Newton, Louis C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen. • The minutes of the last regular meeting and the• special meetings of April 19, 1937 were read and approved. On motion of Councilman Rollins, seconded by Councilman Flippo, and unanimously carried, the contract of Mr. T. S. Alexander for the hauling of slops for the year ending March 31, 1938, was approved, and the following order issued: "It is ordered that E. N. Bradfield, Mayor, be, and he is hereby directed to sign the name of the town .of .Leesburg,- in - - - - Virginia, to the contract for hauling slops from said town, that was awarded to T. S. Alexander." The contract of Mr. Alexander, after being duly signed by the Mayor was hand- ed to the Recorder for his files. The Town Hall committee reported progress with respect to having the roof repaired on the town hall building, and the Mayor ordered the report con- tinued. The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid: Virginia Department of Highways, - - - - $ 77.28 General Electric Co., 4.04 Herman Mottley, 20.00 $102.32 It was moved by Councilman Rollins, seconded by Councilman Turley, • and unanimously carried, that sessions of the Council begin at 8:00 P. M., during the months of May, June, July and August. Mr. C. M. Payne, of the People's Ice Co., appeared before Council and sought permission to erect a 500 gallon gasoline tank, with pump, in front of the building which the company leased at # 215, 217, 219 and 221 East Loudoun Street, said building being the property of Mr. Wallace George. On motion of -Councilman Newton, seconded by Councilman Flippo, and unanimous- ly carried, the permission was granted. There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, Re- corder; and Roy M. Flippo, Lawrence S..Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Louis C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen. The minutes of the last regular meeting of the Council were read and - approved. Mrs. Arthur Hough appeared Before Council and expressed her thanks for the kindnesses and courtesies extended to Mr. Hough during his recent illness. Mr. J. I. Kidwell asked the Council to have the pavement and curbing repaired in front of his property on West Loudoun Street. The Mayor instructed Councilmen Flippo and Rollins to investigate the situation and report back to Council. The following petition, signed by twenty-two (22) individuals, was read by the Recorder: May 10, 1937. "To the Leesburg Town Council: We, the undersigned, representing business interests of Leesburg, petition you to act without further delay in establish- ing in Leesburg a suitable rest room for women, with the request that the room now occupied as a pool room be utilized for this purposO. . Other communities smaller than Leesburg have such rest rooms for women, and they have proved of great assistance to those communities in attracting trade. We feel that we are entitled to this co-operation from the Leesburg Council, and request that your act in the matter to-night." • No action was taken on the foregoing petition.
