The Town Hall committee reported progress with respect to having the
roof repaired on the town hall building, and the Mayor ordered the report con-
tinued.
The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid:

It was moved by Councilman Rollins, seconded by Councilman Turley,
and unanimously carried, that sessions of the Council begin at 8:00 P. M.,
during the months of May, June, July and August.
Mr. C. M. Payne, of the Pebple's Ice Co., appeared before Council
and sought permission to erect a 500 gallon gasoline tank, with pump, in
front of the building which the company leased at # 215, 217, 219 and 221
East Loudoun Street, said building being the property of Mr. Wallace George.
On motion of -Councilman Newton, seconded by Councilman Flippo, and unanimous-
ly carried, the permission was granted.
There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.

At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the town of
Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday May 10, 1937, at
8:00 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads, Re-
corder; and Roy M. Flippo, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Louis C.
Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of the Council were read and
- approved.
Mrs. Arthur Hough appeared before Council and expressed her thanks for
the kindnesses and courtesies extended to Mr. Hough during his recent illness.
Mr. J. I. Kidwell asked the Council to have the pavement and curbing
repaired in front of his property on West Loudoun Street. The Mayor instructed
Councilmen Flippo and Rollins to investigate the situation and report back to
Council.
The following petition, signed by twenty-two (22) individuals, was
read by the Recorder:
May 10, 1937.
"To the Leesburg Town Council:
We, the undersigned, representing business interests of
Leesburg, petition you to act without further delay in establish-
ing in Leesburg a suitable rest room for women, with the request
that the room now occupied as a pool room be utilized for this
purpose. .
Other communities smaller than Leesburg have such rest
rooms for women, and they have proved of great assistance to those
communities in attracting trade. We feel that we are entitled to
this co-operation from the Leesburg Council, and request that you,
act in the matter to-night."

No action was taken on the foregoing petition.

'Fhe Towri Hall conmiittee reported progress with respect to-having-the

Councilman Turley spoke with reference to converting the room in the
town hall building, recently occupied as a pool parlor, into a rest room for
women, and suggested that a committee be appointed to investigate the feasi-
bility of such a proposition. Councilman Newton then offered a motion, which
Was seconded by Councilman Flippo, that the Mayor appoint a committee to as- I certain the approximate cost of establishing a rest room for ladies and men.
Those voting in favor oT the motion were Councilmen Newton, Flippo and Hutch-

then cast his vote in favor of the motion and appointed Councilmen Rollins,
Turley and Newton as a committee.
The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid:

Councilman Hutchison, of the committee appointed to meet with a
committee from the Fire Department, to look into the matter of purchasing •
a new pumper for the town, reported to Council that the committeesx had met,
and investigated the specifications of the several pieces of equipment recom-
mended, and suggested that if the town was going to buy a new pumper, that
Seagraves equipment be selected.
On motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Rollins, and
unanimously carried, the committee was discharged with a vote of thanks.
Councilman Flippo recommended to Council that the two "Stop" signs
at Loudoun and King Streets be raised, in order that they might be more easily
• seen. After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Turley, seconded by

Councilman Hutchison, and unanimously carried, that the Town Sergeant be in-
structed to purchase two (2) "Stop" signs similar to the ones used at Market
and King Streets, and place them at Loudoun and King Streets.
There being no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.
