- Be-it also resolved, that in view of the fact that the Council,
on' its own initiative, had the proposal to establish a new Sewer sys-
tem and disposal plant submitted •to the voters of -the town of Leesburg,
and the porposal was defeated, the Council is reluctant, at thistime,
to re-submit the proposal to the voters without some expression from
them indicating that they desire to have the same re-considered.
Be it further resolved, that the Council will take the necessary

action to have re-submitted to the voters of the town of Leesburg, the
proposal to establish an adequate sewer system and disposal plant, if
and when a sufficient number of voters indicate a desire to have the
same re-submitted to warrant such action by the Council.
The official Poll Book of the election held June 8, 1937, was submitted,
and showed the following results:
For Mayor, Lucas D. Phillips, 143 votes. '
For Recorder, Roscoe B. Rhoads, 142 votes.
For Councilman, John T. Hourihand?; 134 votes. •
. For Councilman, Lawrence S. $utchison, 124 votes.
For Councilman, Louis C. Rollins, 124 votes.
For Councilman, J. D. Taylor; 122 votes.
For Councilman, Roy M. Flippo, 110 votes.
For Councilman, Joseph H. Turley, 94 votes.
There bring no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.'

. At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the town of
Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday, June 28, 1937,
at 8:00 P. M., there were present E. N. Bradfield, Mayor; Roscoe B. Rhoads,
Recorder; and Roy M. Flippo, Lawrence S. Hutchison, Harry F. Newton, Lucas D.
• Phillips, Louis C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley, Councilmen.
The minutes of the last meeting•were peed and approved.
The following bills were read, approved and ordered paid:

It was moved by Councilman Rollins, seconded by Councilman Newton, and
unanimously carried, that the matter of repairing the town's water pumps be re-
ferred to the Town Sergeant, with instructions that they be repaired at once.
On motion of Councilman elippo, seconded by Councilman Newton, and un-
animously carried, the Town Sergeant was instructed to repair the highway in front .
of the prosperty of Mr. C. K. Hawser, South King Street.
Fire Chief Louis r. Atwell,and Mr. Herbert J. Fry, of the committee to
purchase a new pumper for the Leesburg Fire Co., in company with Mr. J. R. Morris,
representative of The Seagrave Corporation, appeared before Council in further
interest of the purchasing of a new puwper for the town. The matter was dis-
cussed at quite some length, and Councilman Newton offered the following mmotion,

seconded by Councilman Hutchison, and voted affirmatively•upon by Councilmen
Flippo, Hutchison, Newton, Phillips, Rollins and Turley, that the Mayor is
hereby authorized and instructed to order a 500 gallon Seagrave pumper, for the'.
sum of $ '7,172.50, the town of Leesburg, in Virginia, to pay $3,250.00, and the
balance to be paid:by the Leesburg Fire Company, proveded the said fire company
will pay said balance. And that the Mayor be authorised to sign the name of . • •
the town of Leesburg, in Virginia, to the contract for said pumper, and that
the -same be attested to by the Recorder: .
On motion of Councilman Newton, seconded by Councilman Hutchison,
and voted affirmatively upon by Councilmen Flippo, Hutchison, Newton, Phil-
lips, Rollins and Turley, the Mayor was authorized to sell. the Leesburg Pump-
er # 1 for $800.00, if, and when, the town of Leesburg? in•Virginia, purchas-
es, and obtains possession of, a new pumper. • .
There bring no further business, on motion, the Council adjourned.

• • ton, seconded by 'Councilman Phillips, and unanimously carried, the same was o
approved,as read. .
Councilman Phillips introduced the following ordinances, and re I

• - quested that the same lie upon the table until the next meeting of the Coun-
oil:
\N" BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the town of Leesburg, in '
Virginia, that on and after September 1, 1937, the office of Treas-
urer and Auditor shall be filled by the same person. In addition .
to the duties heretofore performed by the Auditor and Treasurer,
the person who occupies the position of Auditor and Treasurer shall .
. assist in preparing.the annual budget for the town, collect all •
taxes, issue all licenses and permits to do business or engage in
an occupation, calling or profession for which a license or permit
is required.
