October 26 , 1937 -
At a special meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the
town of Leesburg , in Virginia , held in the Council Chamber on Tues-
day October 26 , 1937 at 7 :00 ]e. M. , there were: present , Lucas D.
Phillips , Mayor; Hoy M. Flippo , Bohn T. Hourihane , Lawrence S.
Hutchison , Louis C . Rollins , J. D. Taylor and Joseph H. Turley ,
Councilmen.
The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to
discuss a parking Ordinance for the town , which he presented . He
also stated that the Ordinance was not to be passed at this meeting
but at a future meeting and after a public meeting to be held on
Tuesday, November 2 , 1937 at which time the public could- be heard
in' regard to the 'Ordinance ,
It was moved by Councilman Hourihane , seconded by Council-
man Rollins and unanimously. carried that the following Resolution
be passed ;
BE IT RESOLVED`! by the Council of the town of Leesburg ,
in Virginia, that the Mayor be and he is herebyrequested to
investigate the Radley lot as a suitable one for a parking lot
for the town and report his findings to the Council. •
On motion of Councilman Hourihane , seconded by Council-
man Turley and unanimously carried , the following -Ordinance was
adopted ;
BE IT ORDAINED ; by the Council of the town of Leesburg ,
in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby
authorized and instructed to pay the premiums on the
following insurance policies ; -
Whitmore and Armfield - - $5000.00 on Town Hall - $67.00 II
Moore Clemens & Company - $5000.00 on Town Hall. - $67 .00
It was mated by Councilman :ollins , .seconded3by Council-
man Hourihane , and voted favorably upon by Councilmen Turley 4- Taylor
( Councilmen Hutchison and Flippo not voting ) , that the fibllowing
Ordinance be adopted ;
BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the town of Leesburg ,-
in Virginia , that , the Town Hall Auditorium be re-leased to
the Pitts Tally-Ho Theater for a period of two ( 2 ) years at
the rate of twenty five dollars ( $25.00) per month , from
September 1 , 1937 . •
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the Mayor of said town be
and he is -hereby authorized and instructed to draw the
necessary contract between the Pitts Tally-Ho Theater and the
Town of Leesburg , for the renting of the said Town Hall
Auditorium and that the Mayor and the Recorder are hereby
authorized and instructed to affix the name of the Town of
Leesburg , Virginia and the official seal of the said town to
the said contract.
There being no further business , on motion, the Council
adjourned. g
