At a regular meeting of the Mayor-and Town Council of
• the Town of Leesburg, in Virginiaheld in the Council Chamber. on
Monday , July 25, 1938 , there were present;: Lucas D. Phillips , Mayor;
Louis T. Titus , Recorder ; Roy M. Flippo , John. T. Hourihane , ,
• Lawrence. B.• Hutchison, L. C. Rollins and Joseph H. Turley ,Councilmen.

Julys 18th'."and July: 19th, 1938 were read and approved'.
'On= motion of Councilman Turley , seconded by, Councilman,
•Honri•hane , and unanimously carried the following Resolution was .
. passed; ,
', BE •IT RESOLVED, by the Council, of •the Town of Leesburg,
in Virginia that the Mayor of .the said .town shall contimue
to have all jurisdiction vested in such Mayor at the time
the "Trial Justice Act of 1938" was -enacted into law, which
act is entitled : "An Act to Amend and -re-enact Section 4987-f
of the Codeaof Virginia , 'relating to. the Jurisdiction of
Trial Justices;" and also sub-section 12 of- said• Section -
4987-f• of -said Code ; and that the jurisdiction of the said
Mayor shall 'pertain to the issuance of' warrants and the
summoning of witnesses and• the trial of cases involving
tiolation' of town Ordinances , and . that• the said Mayor shall
collect all fees and fines and pay the same into..the treasury
of the• town of Leesburg , in Virginia; as now provided by law,
or by Ordinance of the said Town.
On motion of Councilman Hutchison,- seconded by Councilman
Flippo and unanimously carried , the-following: Resolution was passed ;
11BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town, of Leesburg ,
in' Virginia that' the Auditor-Treasurer- be-and' he is hereby
authorized-, instructed and directed to pay the following bill ;
Howard B. Gill (For overtime police service) - - - - $15:60 •
' On motion- of Councilman• Hutchison seconded by Councilman
Flippo and unanimously carrthed, the following Resolution was passed ;
et.' tBE IT• RESOLVED-, by the Council of the Town of Leesvurg ,
in-Virginia , that the Auditor Treasurer be and he is hereby
authorised, instructed and directed to renew the fire insurance
policy becoming due on August 4 , 1938 , on the Town Hall
Building , carried by Garrett & Company, for-a period of one (1)
year: • .
On motion of- Councilman Hutchison-, -seconded bybCouncilman
Flippo, and unanimously carried; the •following- Resolution .was passed;
. BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of -the Town of Leesvurg ,
in Virginia, that the Street Committee for streets North of
Market Street be and iteis- hereby authorized to have a curb
ani°gutter constructed on the North side of West Union Street
from King Street , West to the East side of-the garage belthging

to Mrs. India R. Titus provided that Mrs. Titus pays one half
(•7J) of the cost of same. •
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the said Council that the said
curb and gutter be laid so as -to make said North Union Street
thirty five (35) feet wide. -
There being no further business , on motion duly made ; .
seconded and carried , the Council adjourned-. f
