HomeMy Public PortalAbout1941_12_08 30-1 . • On motion of Councilman Rollins , seconded by Councilman Fiske and carried , ( Councilman Flippo not voting) , the following Resolution was adopted ; - BE IT RESOLVED , by the Council of the Town of Leesburg , in Virginia that the salary of Robert Atwell , Night 'Watchman be and the same . is hereby increased from 890.00 per month to 8100.00 per month beginning Deember 1 , 1941. On motion of Councilman Rollins , seconded by Councilman Flippo and unanimously carriedthefollowing Councilmen were elected • as a committee to ieiOdate the curbing on Market street between Eing and Church Streets and on Wirt street between Cornwall and Loudoun Streets and to proceed to have same relocated, . J . L. Oliver , C .W. Fiske and J . H.Turley. There being no further business , on motion duly made , seconders and carried , the . Council adjourned at 8 :35 P. N. M. there were present ; Lucas D. Phillips , Mayor ; Louis T . Titus , Recthrder and C. W. Fiske , R. M. Flippo , J . T. Hourihane , J. L. Oliver , L. C.Rollins and J. H.Turley Councilmen. The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of November 1941 and presented the current bills . Upon motion of Councilman Hourihane , seconded by Councilman Oliver and carried the following Resolution was adopted ; BE IT RESOLVED , by the Council of the Town of Leesburg , in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be and heis hereby authorized and instructed to pay the following bills ; Virginia Public Service Company Mayor ' s Office and Fire house - - - 8 6. 50 General Pumping - - - 117.42 Harrison Pumping - - 14.52 Street Lighting - - - - 128. 52 Whiteway Lighting 89 .50 Disposal Plant - - - - - 8. 76 365.22 ST W. Harrison - 5.00 • Total S 091.11 • Upon motion of Councilman Fiske , seconded by Councilman Oliver / and carried there was an Ordinance passed rescinding an Ordinance regarding Drunkeness and Disorderly Conduct at page 13 of the Current Ordinance Book. A copy of this Ordinance may be found in the Current Ordinance .book. • / On motion of Councilman Oliver , seconded by Councilman urley and unanimously carried there was an Ordinance passed in regarding drunkeness a copy of which may be found in the current Ordinance Book. - On motion of Councilman Hourihane , seconded by Councilman Rollins and unanimously carried an Ordinance regarding Disorderly conduct was passed a copy of which may be found in the Current Ordinance Book. On motion of Councilman Hourihahe , seconded by Councilman Turley and unanumously carried there was an Ordinance passed V regarding the standing Committees of the Town Government. A copy of this Ordinahce may be found in the Current Ordinance Bock. --J` Sgt. H. B. Gill gave a report on the course he had recently taken at the F. B. I . School in Washington. Mr. J. B. Anderson of the Leesburg Fire Company appeared • before the Council and ahked the Council , on Behalf of the Fire Company to take over the ladder truck and emergency car. After some discussion cf the matter ' upon motion of Councilman Hourihane seconded by Councilman Turley and unanimously carried the' Council was appointed as a committee to be headed by the Uayor to work With a committee from the Fire company to investigate the matter' of taking over the aforesaid fire company equipment. RECO:DER MA •R - DECEi'.iBER 16 , 1941 SPECIAL At a special meeting of the Eayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg , in Virginia held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday , December 16th• 1941 at 7 :P.M. , there were present ; Lucas D. Phillips , Mayor and Louis Ti Titus , Recorder and C . •W.Fiske , F. 1.4. Flippo , J . T . Hourihane , J . L. Oliver , L. C. Rollins , and J. H.Turley , Councilmen. . • The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was —to consider several 'Ordinances pertaining to Emergency in connection with National • Defense, and the appointment of the County Health Officer as Town Health Officer . There were three ( 3) Ordinanees passed in connection with National Defense , Explosive substances and Suspicious Characters. Copies of these Ordinances may be found in the Current Ordinance Book. Upon motion of Councilman , Turley , seconded by Councilman Hourihane and .unanimously carried there was an Ordinance passed
