AFIFOVED • Yth -46, ��E� 4 , ECORD F. �,A OF. • 1 J I'UARY 9 , 1942 SPECIAL At a Special meeting of the Ilayor and Town Council of the To.vn of Leesburg , b@ld in the Council Chamber on Friday, January 9 , 1942 at £;30 P. M. there ere present ; Lucas D. Phillips , I'.ayor and F. M. Flippo , C. W. Fiske ,- J . T. Hourihane , J . L. Oliver , L. C . Rollins , & J . H. Turley , Cogncilmen. In the absence of the Recorder Councilman Flippo acted • in his stead. Upon motion duly made , seconded- and carried the following Resolution was adopted ; WHEREAS, the Leesburg. Volunteer Fire Company has pur- chased an ambulance and has offered to give it to the Town of Leesburg ; and WHEREAS , -the Council of the Town of Leesburg is of the opinion that the ownership of the said ambulance by the Town would require unjustifiable expenditure of money, whiOhhwould have to be paid by the taxpayers of the town , from which they would not derive benefits commensurate with the expenses incidental to. the operation thereof; and • WHEREAS , the Council is of the further opinion that the cost of maintaining the said ambulance out of the Treasury of the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company is justified , provided said Company desires to do so , in view of the fact that the ,. said ambulance is useful to the said Fire Company in Poing to and from fires and other emergencies out of town and in remote sections of Loudoun County : 40W, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , by the Council of the Town of Leesburg , in Virginia , that the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company be ,and it is , hereby authorized to keep the said ambulance in its own name , or in the name of the Town , and operate the same in connection with fighting fires , or for the purpose of taking firemen to and fnom fires , or anyone injured at a fire to a hospital or other place within the county for necessary treatment , or other emergencies justify- ing the use of the same for charitable purposes , - provided , as long. as , the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company will pay • • all the expenses incidental to keeping , maintaining and operating said ambulance .
