for Benjamin T. Pitts , dated August 20 , 1942 , addressed
to E. N. Bradfield , Mayor , accepting the offer of the
Town- of Leesburg to sell four (4) feet of land to.
Benjamin T. Pitts for Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00 ) .
- BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , by the said Council of the
Town of Leesburg , in Virginia that. the Mayor be and he
is hereby authorized to sign said agreement for and on
beheld( of the town.
A letter from Wilbur C. Hall was read to the Council
offering to pay the Town Five Hundred Dollars (500.00)
for a right of way over an additional four (4) feet of
land adjacent to the four ( 4 ) feet of land the Town has
agreed to sell to Benjamin T. Pitts . This letter was •
written by Mr. . Hall as Attorney for Benjamin T . Pitts .
No action was taken on this matter.

On motion of Councilman Turley , seconded by Councilman
Fiske and unanimously carried the Auditor-Treasurer was
authorized to reimburse himself for a chair seat purchased
for use in the Town Office, at a cost 'of $3.30.
There being no further business , on motion auly made;.
seconded and carried , the Council adjourned at 9 :13 P. P:4.

At a Special meeting of the Mayvr and Town Council of the
Town of Leesburg , in Virginia held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday
October 20, 1942 at & :30 P. M. there were present ; E. N. Bradfield , .
Mayor ; Loui= T. Titus , Recorder and C. W. Fiske , P. M. Flippo , J .T.
Hourihane , J. L. Oliver , L. C. Rollins and J. H.Turley Councilmen .
The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion
duly made , seconded and carried were approved . as peed.

The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement -for the mon
month of September , and also the quarterly statement for the quarter
ending September 30 , 1942 and upon motion of Councilman Oliver ,
seconded by Councilman Turley and unanimously carried the following
Resolution was adopted ;
WHEREAS , the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to
the Council of the Town of Leesburg , in Virginia , a quarterly
s'atement of all receipts and an analysis of all disbursements
for the months of July , August and September 1942 ,
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED , by the Council of the 11.
Town of Leesburg , in Virginia , that the said quarterly report
of the ruditor-Treasurer be and the same is hereby unanimously
approved and accepted by the said Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , by the said Council that the
Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed
to rave a copy of the said quarterly report publised once in
a newspaper published in said town and also post a copy of said
report in front of the Court house in the said -town.
The Amditor-Treasurer presentee the current bills and
upon motion of Councilman Hourihane , seconded by Councilman Fiske
and unanimously carried the following Eesooution was adopted ;

' Auditor-`Treasurer Rhoads made a peport on the convention
of the League of .Virginia Municipalities which he and Mayor
Bradfield attended on October 11th & 12th.
Councilman Fiske brought the matter of adding boys in the
capicity of Jr. Firemen to the Leesburg fire Company to make up
for the regular .Volunteer firemen who are inducted into the
armed forces of .the U. S.

The hecorder was asked to write to the League of Virginia
Municipalities a.uu get what information that is available on
the subject of Jr. Volunteer Fire Companies .
Mhe Auditor-Treasurer made a report of the damage caused by
the recent heavy rains , to the sidewalk of Mrs . C. R. Lowenback
and also reported that the sewer connection to Mrs. Lowenback' s
property on King Stteet had never been made. After some discussion
of the matter the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized to have the
sidewalk repaired and also to have Mrs. Lowenback' s sewer line
connected to the new sewer system.
• y' Theme being no further business , on motion. duly made , seconded
and carried the Council adjourned at 8 :45 P. M.
