Company- - - - 12 .30 Bingham & Taylor- - - -- - - - 15.00 Department of Hightays - - - - - - 55.00 Leesburg Lime & Fuel Corporation - - 10.93 Gill' s Radio & Electric Service- - - 1.80 Total - - - $ 681.13 On motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Oliver . and unanimously carried the following Resolutionwas adopted; BE IT RESOLVED, by the -Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia That the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay Howard B. Gill the sum of $100.00 representing additional compensation for extra police duty during the period from December 1, -1943 through February 18, 1944. The Recorder advised the Council that he expected to be . called to the Armed Forces before the next Regular meeting of the Council and stated that he was advising the Council of_ this fact in order that the Council might consider a successor to his office. . Councilman Fiske led a general discussion of "Post War Planning" in which several members of the Council Participated. Recorder • JI `April 10, 1944 REGULAR 1 At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday, April 10, 1944, at d: 30 P . M. , there were present, E. N. Bradfield, Mayor, and C . W. Fiske, Joseph L. Oliver, L. C . Rollins and Joseph H: Turley, Councilmen. Mayor Bradfield appointed Councilman Fiske Recorder Pro-Tem. The minutes of the last regular meeting were read, and upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, were approved as read. - . The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of March., 1944, and his Quarterly statement for the quarter ending • 3 64 March 31, 1944 , and upon motion of Councilman Oliver, seconded by Councilman Rollins and unanimously carried, the following Resolution was adopted; WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, a quar- terly statement of all receipts and an analysis of all dis- bursements for the months of January, February and March, 1 1944; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia , that the said quarterly re- port of the Auditor-Treasurer be and the same is hereby ap- proved and accepted by the said Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the the said Council that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and direct- ed to have a copy of the said quarterly report published once in a newspaper published in said Town and also post a copy of the said report in front of the Court House in the said Town. Hatcher - 2.00 The Garlock Packing Company 2.73 Noland Co. , Incorporated, 1.78 The Leesburg Lime & Fuel Corporation - - 27.28 Leesburg Grain & Feed Co . , Inc. , - - - - 1.55 Total - - - _ $ 526.05 The Finance Committee presented the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1944 , and ending June 30, 1945, and upon motion of Councilman Fiske, seconded by Councilman Oliver, and unanimously carried the following Resolution was adopted: WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day pre- sented to the Council a budget showing the. annual re- ' ceipts and disbursements for the year 1943 and the es- timated receipts and disbursements for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1944, and ending June 30 , 1945, • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor= Treasurer be, and he is hereby instructed and authoriz- ed to have the aforesaid .budget published once in a newspaper published in the said town. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the said Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that there will be q meet- ing of the said Council, in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall Building, in the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, • at 8:00 P . M. , on Firday, April 28, 1944, for the pur- ' 362 pose of giving any citizen of the Town the right td appear before the Council and state his views on the aforesaid proposed budget. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that due notice be pub- lished once in a newspaper published in the Town of Leesburg, of said meeting . On motion of Councilman Oliver, seconded by Councilman Tur- ley, and unanimously carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was instruct- ed to purchase four (4) shirts for Sergeant Gill. The resignation of Recorder Louis T . Titus, caused by his having entered the service of his country , was read to the Coun- cil, and upon motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Oliver and unanimously carried, the resignation was accepted with extreme regrets. The Councilmen commented upon the accuracy and interest manifested by Mr . Titus while serving as Recorder. April 28, 1944 SPECIAL There was a special meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Friday, April 28, 1944, for the purpose of giving any citizen, or taxpayer, an opportunity to express his views on the proposed budget, which was presented to the Council by the Finance Commit- tee on April 10, 1944, pursuant to a resolution adopted on that date . As no one presented themselves to express their views on the said proposed budget, the Council adjourned at 8: 30 P.
