HomeMy Public PortalAbout1944_07_10 366 On motion of Councilman Fiske , seconded by Councilman Houri- hane , and unanimously carried, the following Resolution was adopt- ed: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia , that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized and instructed to pay the balance of $4,000 .00 on or before June 30, 1944, due on the note of $9,000.00, which was borrowed for the purpose of pay- ing the balance due on the Town Parking Lot. On motion of Councilman Fiske, seconded by Councilman Rollins , and duly carried (Councilmen Oliver and Turley voting in the neg- ative) , the following Resolution was adopted: `BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia, that the Dog Ordinance , now existing on the Current Ordinance Book, be .rescinded. T- s7 It was moved by Councilman Oliver, seconded by .Councilman Fiske and unanimously carried, that the Auditor-Treasurer be au • - thorized to have the White Way light standards painted. Mayor Bradfield advised the Council that the 39th annual meeting of th'e League of Virginia Municipalities would be held in Roanoke, Virginia , September 24, 25 & 26, 1944, and urged as many of the Councilmen to attend as could possibly do so . On motion of Councilman Fiske , seconded by Councilman Rol- line , and unanimously carried, the follow Ordinance was passed: ' • BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia , that George E. Ward be , and he is hereby appointed Recorder for the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, to fill the unexpired term of Louis T. Titus , resigned. There being no further business , on motion duly made, second- ed and carried, the Council adjourned at 9: 10 P. M. . N. Bradfield, Mayor, George E. Ward, Recorder, C. W. Fiske, J. T. Hourihane, J. L. McIntosh', J. L. Olive, L. C. Rollifs, and J. H. Turley, Councilmen. • Mayor Bradfield presented to the Council George E. Ward, Re- corder who was appointed to fill out the unexpired term of Louis , T . Titus, resigned, with his Oath of Office . The minutes of the last regular meeting were read and upoO motion duly made, seconded and carried were approved as read. The Auditor-Treasurer read his Monthly report for the month of June, 1944, his Quarterly report for the quarter ending June 30, 1944 and his Annual statement for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1944, and upon motion of Councilman Turley, seconded by Councilman Oliver and unanimously carried the following resolution was adoptee} WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to the Council. of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, a quarterly state- 3 67 • • ment of all receipts and an analysis of all disbursements for the months of, Aptil, May and June, 1944; " NOW, THEREFORE, BE I2 RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town g of Leesburg, in Virginia , that the 'said quarterly report of the Auditor-Treasurer be and it is hereby approved and accepted by the said Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the said Council that the .Auditor Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to have a copy of the said quarterly report published once in a newspaper published '"in said town and also post a copy of the said report in front of the court house in the said Town. The Auditor-Treasurer presented the current bills and upon motion of 'Councilman Oliver, seconded by Councilman Fiske and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby author- ized and directed to pay the following bills: Virginia Electric & Power Company; • Mayor's Office and Fire House $ 6:00 Fire Siren - 4.00 General Pumping 134.01 Harrison Pumping - 13.17 Street Lighting 131.04 . Inc . 7.78 County of Loudoun 20.17 Union Metal Manfacturing Co. - 2.' 2 Total $532.51 Councilman Fiske brought to the attention of Council the • matter of' 'an unused 3-phase, 15-horse power electric motor and a discarded 5 H.P. Fire Siren, and urged the sale of same. On motion of. Councilman Turley, seconded by Council Fiske, and carried unanimously, the Mayor appointed Councilment Fiske and `Turley to investigate the feasibility of/$afne and report their findings at the next meeting of Council. On motion. of Councilman Oliver,' seconded by Councilman • McIntosh and unanimously carried the following resolution " was adopted: BE IT'RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia , that Roscoe B. Rhoads, auditor-Treasurer, Howard I/ B. Gill, Police Sergt. and Roger G. Powell, Night Policemen, and Raymond L. Hough be given the cpice of taking a vacation or pay at the regular rate in leiu thereof.
