October 9, 1944 Regula
At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the
Town of. Leesburg, in Virginia , held in the Council Chamber on Mon-
day, October 9, 1944 at 7: 30 P.M. there were present: E. N. Brad-
'field, Mayor, Ueorge E. Ward, Recorder, C. W. Fiske, J. L. McIntosh,
J. L. Oliver , L. C. Rollins and J. H. Turley , councilmen.
The minutes of the last regular meeting and of the Special
meeting on September 30, 1944 , were read and upon motion duly made,
seconded and carried were approved aa-read.
The Auditor-Treasurer read his Monthly report for the month
of September, 1944, his Quarterly report for the quarter ending
September 30, 1944, and upon motion of Councilman J. L. Oliver and
seconded by Councilman C . W. Fiske and unanimously carried the fol-
. fairing resolution was adopted:
' WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to the
Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, a quarterly statement
of •.11 receipts and an analysis of all disbursements for the months
of July, August and September, 1944 ;
NOW, THERE. 'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the said Council that the
Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to '
have a copy of the said quarterly report published once in a news-
paper in said town and also post a copy of th4 said report in front
of the Court House in the said town.
The Auditor-Treasurer presented the current bills and upon
motion of Councilman J. H. Turley,xaseconded by Councilman C . W.
Fiske and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in
Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized
and directed to pay the following bills:

The Auditor-Treasurer reported that the. Pomona pump had been. installed
in Well No. 1 and that it was working satisfactory and producing approx-
imately 35 G.P.M per minute.
Mayor E. N. Bradfield advised Council Mr. D. H. Cooley had cer-
tain Police uniforms for sale for the sum of $25 and upon motion of
Councilman Rollins and seconded by Council Oliver and unanimously car-
ried, the matter of purQhasing same was left ij the hands of the Audi-
tor-Treasurer.
The Mayor read to Council a letter from the Washington & Old Domin-
ion Railroad , thanking Council for their resolution passed at a Special
meeting on September 30, 1944.
A report on the recent Convention of the League of Virgintha Munic-
ipalities at Roanoke, Va. was made by Mayor Bradfield, Councilman C. W.
Fiske and Auditor-Treasurer Roscoe B. Rhoads;
Councilman J. L. Oliver mdothe Building Committee, reported that
the down spout and gutter at the Pump House was in a deplorable conditic
and that there was need for a gutter at the Disposal Plant. On motion
of Councilman Oliver , seconded by Councilman Fiske and unanimously car-
ried, the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virgiri.a
that the Auditor-Treasurer be and is hereby directed to have the gutter
and downspout at the Pump House replaced, at a cost not to exceed $65,
and also to have a gutter and downspout installed on the Laboratory
building at the Disposal Plant.
Councilman C . W. Fiske of the Fire Committee reported to Council
that the week of October 8-15- would be observed as Nation Fire Preventit
Week.
Upon motion of Councilman Fiske, seconded by Councilman McIntosh,
and unanimously carried, the Fire Committee was instructed to inves-
togate the matter of skid chains for No. 1 Fire Pumper.
Councilman McIntosh of the Finance Committee reported that that
there was no fire insurance on the pump house building, garage, disposal
plant building, the two town trucks and the fire apparatus . Mayor
Bradfield continued the committee and instructed them to procure figures
covering said insurance and that he mould contact the League of Virgin-
ia Municipalities as to custom of same .
There being no further business , on motion duly made, seconded and
carried, the council adjourned at 8: 30 P.M.

At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town
of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council chamber on Monday, Novem- 11ber 13, 1944 at 7:30 P.M. , there were present: E.N.Bradfield, Mayor,
George E. Ward, Recorder,C.W.Fiske,John T. nourihane, James L. McIntosh
Joseph L. Oliver, L.C.Rollins and J.H.Turley Councilmen.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of
