There being no further business , on motion dulyt madepcied seconded and unanimously carried, the Council adjourned at 9:45 P.M. s �1� Recorder i l ' May�6 January 8, 1945 Regular At a regular meeting og the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia , held in the Council chamber on Monday, January 8, 1945, at 7: 30 P.M. , there were present: E.N.Bradfield, Mayor, George E. Ward, Recorder, C.W.Fiske, James L. McIntosh, Joseph L. Oliver and J. H. Turley, Councilmen. The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of Councilman Joseph L. Oliver, seconded by Councilman C .W.Fiske they were unanimously approved as read. A committee from the Fire Department, headed by Fire Chief appeared .before Council to ascertain what action had been taken by the Fire Committee of the Town Council in reference to turning over to the Fire Department the entire and complete management of said Fire Department. The Fire Committee reported that they would like to have additional time in which to consider the matter and upon motion of Councilman J.H.Turley, seconded by Councilman Jospph L. Oliver and unanimously carried, the Committee was continued. The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly report for the month of December , 1944, his Quarterly report for the quarter ending Decem- ber 30, 1944 and his annual statement for the calendar year ending December 30, 1944, and upon motion of Councilman Joseph L. Oliver, seconded by Councilman C.W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the follow- ing Resolution was adopted: WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer his this day presented to tle Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, a quarterly statement of all receipts and an analysis of all disbursements for the months of October, November and December, 1944; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia , that the said quarterly report of the Audi- tor-Treasurer be and it is hereby approved and accepted by said Coundl BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the said Council that the Auditor,— Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to have a copy of the said quarterly report published once in a newspaper published in said Town and also post a copy of the said report in front of the Court House in the said Town. Titus, former Recorder, and upon motion of Councilman J .H.Turley, sec- onded by Councilman C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the said greeting was ordered placed upon the minutes of this meeting: "Dear Friends: • Many times since leaving Leesburg have my thoughts gone back• to you men who have• done so much • to make Leesburg a good place to live. I am glad to have had the opportunity of working with you. May each of you have a Merry Christmas • and may the New Year bring success to each undertaking you confront. Sincerely, Louis T. Titus" • December 13, 1944 Mayor Bradfield reported to Council of the receh/accident of Councilman L.C .Rollins , in which he had the misfortune to fall and break his hip. He is now recuperating in the Loudoun Hospital and the Council, of which he is. a valued member, was unanimous in hopes for his speedy recovery and return to his chair in the Council chamber.
