HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-02-2018 Joint Meeting LDDC & Public Outreach Joint Meeting of the Landmarks & District Designation and Public Outreach Subcommittees Record of Minutes Date: August 2, 2018 Location: Village Hall CALL TO ORDER, ROLL CALL Commissioner Hagen called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Roll call was taken: Commissioners Derrick, Hagen, Hendricksen, Schmidt, and Chairman Bortel were present. Commissioners Barvian, Olsen, Lucas, and Rapp were absent. Also in Attendance: Jon Proulx, Director of Planning; and Kendra Kuehlem, Associate Planner. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The LDDC and Public Outreach Joint Meeting minutes dated July 5, 2018 were approved. OLD BUSINESS Historic Guidelines Manual Mr. Proulx stated that the Village was able to get additional reimbursement for CAMP and the additional reimbursement will be set aside for the printing of the manual. Preservation Watch List Commissioner Hendericksen asked how a house gets added to the watch list. Mr. Proulx stated they just need to send staff the address. Commissioner Schmidt asked if the Building Department has a copy of the watch list. Chairman Bortel stated no, that Building should be contacting staff when something comes in for the older part of town. Commissioner Derrick indicated that the watch list shows that the HPC is watching the property and not just being reactionary. The commission discussed the purpose of the watch list. The commission inquired how a request for demolition is handled. Mr. Proulx explained the Village’s process for demolition applications. Updates on Sanctuary Restaurant at Trolley Barn Commissioner Schmidt stated there was a wedding there over the weekend and provided a brief update on the mezzanine. Mr. Proulx indicated the Village granted a onetime temp occupancy permit for this wedding. Baci's Mr. Proulx indicated there may be a new interest from someone for a bed and breakfast. R. Baker Project at Dillman/Joliet Rd. Commissioner Schmidt provided an update on the project. Sprinkler Grant Proposal Mr. Proulx gave a brief description of the grant being proposed. Revisit BTD in November Chairman Bortel suggested hosting another BTD Event this fall and explained why. Chairman Bortel suggested having the event certified for Continued Education Credits for realtors. Commissioner Derrick suggested on how to attract residents to the event. NEW BUSINESS Plainfield Grain Elevator Concept Commissioner Schmidt provided an update. 24120-24122 W. Chicago St. - Tour in September Chairman Bortel stated this home is a possible demolition and the HPC will need to tour the house to make their determination. Commissioner Schmidt stated he toured the house a few weeks ago and described what he saw. Joint LDDC & Public Outreach Minutes July 5, 2018 Page 2 of 2 2018 Driehaus Award from Landmarks Illinois - Opera House Chairman Bortel advised the commission that on Saturday, September 15th at Venue SIX10 in Chicago the Opera Hose will be presented an award.
