The matter of drain water from house roofs entering the sanitary sewerage system was brought to the attention of Council, and after some discussion, the Auditor-Treasurer was instructed to prepare and send to each property owner a notice requested that all down spouts be removedl On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by J.H.Turley, and unani- ' mously carried, the following resolution was adopted: ' BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in -Virginia, that Roscoe B. Rhoads, Auditor-Treasurer, Roger F.. Powell, Police Sergeant, Samuel C. Bell, Night Policman, and Raymond L. Hough, be given the choice of taking a vacation or pay at the regular rate, in lieu thereof. On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by J.H.Turley, and unani- mously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town •of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the salary of George T. Oliver. and unanimously carried, they were approved ad read. - The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of August, 1946, and presented the- current bills and upon motion of Joseph L., Oliver , seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: . . Smoot, seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, . that the Auditor-Treasurer be instructed, authorized and directed to pay • to the Virginia State Highway Department., the sum of Twelve Thousand ($12,000.00) to pay for resurfacing the streets of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia, as authorized February 11, 1946. On motion of Joseph L. Oliver , seconded by Thelma J: Smoot and unanimously carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was instructed to get the • approximate cost of a penetration treatment for Royal Street and the Parking Lot.; and other streets of the town not resurfaced. On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by Joseph L. Oliver and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted: • BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the auditor-Treasurer be instructed, authorized and directed to procure prices on one one-half ton Pick-Up Truck for the use of the • Street and Water Departments. On motion of James L. McIntosh, seconded by Joseph L. Oliver and II unanimously•carried, the necorder was instructed to write Mr. W.T. Van Dorn, Ryan, Va. and thanking him for his services in locating a water leak at the Pump House. • • On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by L:C .Rollins and •unanimously car- ried the AuditorATreasu rer was authorized and directed to purchase one Globe Geophone Leak Locator, at a cost of $75.00. On motion of Joseph L. Oliver , seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: - BE, IT RESOLVED; by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay to each Official and each Councilman attending the Convention of the League of Virginia Municipalities, the sum of $25.00.
