Smoot, seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, . that the Auditor-Treasurer be instructed, authorized and directed to pay • to the Virginia State Highway Department., the sum of Twelve Thousand ($12,000.00) to pay for resurfacing the streets of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia, as authorized February 11, 1946. On motion of Joseph L. Oliver , seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unanimously carried, the Auditor-treasurer was instructed to get the • approximate cost of a penetration treatment for Royal Street and the Parking Lot; and other streets of the town not resurfaced. On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by Joseph L. Oliver and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted: • BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be instructed, authorized and directed to procure prices on one one-half ton Pick-Up Truck for the use of the Street and Water Departments. Uh motion of James L. McIntosh, seconded by Joseph L. Oliver andII . unanimously carried, the necorder was instructed to write Mr. W.T. Van Dorn, Ryan, Va. and thanking him for his services in locating a water leak at the Pump House. On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by L:C .Rollins and unanimously car- ried the AUditorATreasu rer was authorized and directed to purchase one Globe Geophone Leak Locator, at a cost of $75.00. On motion of Joseph L. °liver , seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE. IT RESOLVED; by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay to each Official and each Councilman attending the Convention of the League of Virginia Municipalities, the sum of $25.00. The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by Thlema J . Smoot and unanimously carried, they . were approved as read. • The Auditor,-Treasurer read his monthly, report for the month of . September, 1946, his Quarterly report for the quarter ending September 30, 1946 'and upon motion of Joseph L. Oliver, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, a quarterly statement of 414 all receipts and an analysis of all disbursements for the months of July, August and September, 1946; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Lees- burg, in Virginia) that the said quarterly report of the Auditor-Treasurer be and it is hereby approvgd and accepted by said Council; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED; by the Council that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and instructed to have a copy of the said quarterly report published once ina newspaper, published in said town and also post a copy of the said report in front of the Court House in the said town. Smoot, and unanimously carried, the Auditor-treasurer was authorized and instructed to erect cement curbing on the East side of North Church street between Cornwall and North streets , also on the East side of South Ayr street between Market and. Loudoun Streets; On motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by James L. McIntosh and unanimously carried the bid of Altizer & Wilson, Purcellville, Va. in the amount of $2420.00 for laying 4-inch cast iron pipe in North, Harrison, Loudoun and Market streets be accepted. - On motion of James L. McIntosh, seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the Auditor-'Tt"easurer was authorized, instructed and directed to have South, Alco, Royal, North, Harrison, Cornwall, Slack Lane, streets not heretofore resurfaced, and the Municipal Parking Lot, resurfaced with a penetration treatment. . • Hon. Lucas D. Phillips, Attorney-at-Law, presented to Council a • petition signed by twenty-five (25) property owners in the Northwest suberbsa of the town, knovrn-as Fairtiew, asking that the Town of Leesb&rg include that section within the Corporate limits• of the Town of Leesburg. xuss&l Potts, one of the signers to the petition, spoke in favor of the petition. On motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by James L. McIntosh and unani mously carried, the matter was laid on the table for for consideration. On motion of James L. McIntosh, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized and directed to purchase . 415 one coat and two pair of trousers for Police Sergeant, Roger F. Powell. On motion of J.H.Turley, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unanimously carried, the sum of 525.00 for expenses, was allowed Roger F . Powell, Police Sergeant, to attend the annual convention, Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. . • - A report was made on the annual Convention of theeagueiofiUirte gin municipalities at Virginia beach by various members of the Council- who attended same. On motion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unani- mously carried, the following resolution was adopted: II BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Recorder write the Virginia Department of Highways, Richmond, Va. and ask them to place a Traffic Control Light at the intersection of King and Market streets on routes 7 and 15.
