On motion of J.H.Turley, seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously
carried, the sum of $25.00 for expenses, was allowed Roger F . Powell,
Police Sergeant, to attend the annual convention, Virginia Association
of Chiefs of Police. . - -
A report was made on the annual Convention of the teagueiofLVir.•e
beach gin municipalities at Virginia each by various members of the Council
who attended same .
On motion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unani-
' mously carried, the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia
that the Recorder write the Virginia Department of Highways, Richmond, Va.
and ask them to place a Traffic Control Light at the intersection of King
and Market streets on routes 7 and 15.
There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the Council adjourned.

. At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town
of Leesburg, in Virginia , held in the Council Chamber -on Monday, November
11, 1946-'at 7:30 B'clock P.M. , there were present: E.N.Bradfield, Mayor,
George E. Ward, Recorder, C .W.Fiske, , Joseph L: Oliver,
Thelma J. Smoot, L.C.Rollins and J.H.Turley, Councilmen.

minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of C.W.
Fiske, seconded by J.H.Turley and unanimously carried, they were approved
as read.
The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly report for the month of
• October, 1946, and presented the current bills and upon motion of Josep4
L. Oliver, seconded by J. H. Turley and unanimously carried the following
resolution was adoptedi ,

that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to

On motion of Thelma J . Smoot, seconded by J.H.Turley aand unani-
mously carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized, instructed and di-
rected to have the following streets scarified before resurfacing: ,
Harrison, E. North (1 block) , E. Cornwall (1 Block) , Slack Lane , W. Royal
(1 block) , and. E. South.
On motion of C .W.Fiske, seconded by aoseph L. Oliver and unanimously
carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was .authorized, instructed and directed to
purchase a Battery Recharger at a price of $225.00.

A letter from the Virgini j Highway Department was read to Council
and noted that another investigation would be made relative to the install-
ation of a Traffic Control Light at the corner of King and Market streets.
A letter from the nev. J .A.Welbourn was read to Council, urging the
installation of a Traffic Control light at the above-named corner.
A letter from Agustus Valentine (Leesburg) asking a refund of at
least $40 00 p la • sidewalk i front of his residence on East Market
streets `�i e atter wa 'referred t9the Special Sidewalk Committee for further
consideration.

Dr. Charles G. Souder newly appointed Health Officer was introduced
to Council and spoke briefly about his work. He urged a cleaner town for
Leesburg. -
On motion of C.W.Fiske , seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unaimously
carried, the Town agreed to assume the cost of electricity required for the
Christmas stteet lights.
