Ward, Recorder, C .W.Fiske, J.L. McIntosh, J.L.Oliver, Thelma J. Smoot and J.H.Turley, Councilmen. The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion • of C.W.Fiske, seconded by J.L.Mclntosh and unanimously carried, thw werea approved as read. • The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of tiannary, 1947 and presented the current bulla and upon motion of J.L.Oliver, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unanimously carried the following resoultdion was adopted: BECIT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor*treasurer be, and he is hereby authorizes and directed to pay the following bills: • Va. On motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unanimously carried, the following Ordinance was adopted: . , 421, BE IT ORDAINED, that the Tax and License Ordinance for the Town \ of Leesburg, in Virginia, be amended to include the following section: 62-A WELDING SHOP. On every person, firm, assocaition or corp- ; oration engaged in the business of acetylene and/or electric welding, the .sum of $5.00. (See Current urdinace nook, Page 58) - On motion of J.L.Oliver, seconded by J.H.Turley and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: • BE IT RESOLVED, by the CoUncil of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to charge off all unpaid Capitation Taxes, and penalties IIon .same . On motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by J.L.Oliver and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE, IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to chargee off as uncollectable, water bills in the amount of $1099.56. The following report was submitted by the Town Hall Committee: "Your Committee, appointed to investigate the feasibility of _ . making repairs, etc. , to the Town hall Building, as recommended by the State Wire marshall' s Office, feels that at the present time, the first step to be taken would be to employ a capable and efficient architect and/or engineer to prepare and present plans and specifications, looking forward to remodelling the sad Town Hall Building" . • On motion of J.H.Turley, seconded by C .W.Fiske, and unanimously carried, the Town Hall Building Committee was authorized and directed ' to proceed to•ascertain costsetc. from a Consulting Engineer. and/or Architect, as outlined in their report above. Johnston to have the fence between her prop- ert and 'Town property near the Water Tank taken down and a wall erected. un motion of J.L.Mclntosh, seconded by J.H.Turley, and unanimously car- . ried the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized, instructed and directed to have the fence separating the property of Mrs. Beulah N. Johnston and . the Town, near the Town water Tank taken down and stored away at the expense of the Town and that no wall would be erected in its place. The Mayor read to Council the names of all Officers and all members of the Leesburg volunteer Fire Company for the year 1947, which he stated had been handed him by the Fire Company. • Unmotion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by J.L.Mclntosh and unani- mously carried, the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized, instructed and directed to make immediate purchase of the necessary tools for the open- ing of sewers.- • - Mr. J.O.Gray, manager of the Leesburg Airpark, appeared before - . the Council and explained the new organization now operating the Airpark and advised the Council that the Airpark would cooperate with the Town in all matters relative to Flying. The report of the Zoning Commission for the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, was submitted and read to Council. On motion of Thelma J. II . Smoot, seconded by J. L. Oliver and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED; by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in , Virginia, that the Recorder be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to write a letter of thanks to the Zoning Commission for their work in drafting the proposed Zoning Ordinance. ' On motion of J. L. McIntosh, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unanimously carried, it was ordered that sufficient copies of the pro- posed Zoning Ordinance be typed for benefit of Council.
