On motion of Francis L. Patton, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and
unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia,
that Warren C. Perrow, Consulting .Engineer, be and he is hereby authorized
instructed and directed .to. cheek the existing- Storm Water Sewer and to
submit an estimate of cost, to ascertain the capacity of. said sewer and
to make recommendations and prepare plans necessary for construction of
additional storm water sewers as may be necessary.
On motion of Francis L. Patton, seconded by J.L.Mclntosh and unani-
mously carried, the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, _by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Vir-
ginia, that the auditor-treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized, 111-
instructed and directed to pay to William Hamilton, Police Officer,
five cents (5c) per mile up to 300 miles per month, for use of his
automobile, in policing the town.
On motion of C.W.Fiske, seconded by J.L.Mclntosh and unanimously
carried,, the matter of all-night parking of trucks on King itreet and
in residential areas, was ordered laid on the table until the next
meeting of Council.
On.motion of J.L.Mcintosh, seconded by C .w.Fiske and unanimously
carriedr it was ordered that the chairs and benches now in use at the
church of, the Nazarene be sold to said church for the sum of $1.00.

On motion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by C .W.Fiske and unanimously
carried, the Trash Committee was authorized and directed to renew
negotiations and to sigh contract with mr. Reed Johnson for the privi-
lege of dumping trash on his property.
There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, the council adjourned.

/Regular July 11, 1949
At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council .of the Town
of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday, July
11, 1949 at 7:45 o'clock P.M. there were present: Maurice R. Lowen-
bach, Jr. mayor, E.H.James, J.L.Mclntosh, Francis L. Patton, J. L.
Oliver and Thelma J. Smoot, Councilmen.
in the absense of Recorder ueorge E. ward, Councilman .J. L. Mc-
Intosh was elected to serve as "ecorder pro-tem.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of
J. L. Oliver, seconded by E. H. James, they were unanimously approved
as read.
.rhe Auditorigreasurer read his monthly report for the month 'of
June, 1949, and his quarterly statement for the quarter ending .June
30, 1949 end upon motion of E. H. James, seconded by J. L. Oliver and
carried unanimously, the following resolution was adopted:
WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has this day presented to the
Council of the Towg of Leesburg, in Virginia, a quarterly statement of
all receipts and an analysis of all disbursements for the months of
April, may, June, 1949;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of
Leesburg, in Virginia, that the said quarterly report of the Auditor.-
Treasurer
uditor-Treasurer be and it is hereby approved and accepted by said' Council;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council that the Auditor-Treasurer
be and he is hereby authorized and directed to have a copy of the said
quarterly report published once in a newspaper, published in said town
and also post a copy of the said report in front of the Court House 4 8 J
in said town.
The Auditor-Treasurer presented the current bills and upon motion
of E. H. Janes, seconded by J. L. Oliver and carried unanimously, the
following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Vir-
ginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be , and he is hereby authorized and
directed to pay the following bills:

A letter from Mr. Charles T.- Tittman,- relative to treating side-
walk in front of his residence on North King Street with Asphalt and
gravel was read to Council and referred to the Street Committee.
A letter from Garrett Insurahce Agency, giving rates on in-
surance for Parking meters was read to Council and filed for future
reference.
The matter of lighting the Softball Field at Leesburg school for
athletic purposes at the municipal rate of. 1 cent per killiwatt hour

was considered by Council. Upon motion of - seconded by
Francis L. Patton and unanimously carrie , same was authorized, the
Athletic Association to reimburse the Town of Leesburg for said ex-
penditure.
The matter of additional re-imbursement to George H. Hardy during
off-hours, for repairs to parking meters was considered by Council. Upon
motion of Francis L. Patton, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unanimously
carried, it was decided that repairs to parking meters be made in the
usual line of. work; that a record of time be kept and a report be made
at the next meeting of Council.

The matter of adding 1-4 mile of streets to the State Highway '
secondary system, in accordance- with Senate hill No. 234, Chapter 507,
was brought to the attention of council, and after some discussion,
upon motion of J. L. McIntosh, seconded by E.H.James and unanimously
carried, the matter was• referred to the street Committee for recom-
mendation.

On motion of Thelam J. Smoot, seconded by Francis L. Patton and
unanimously carried, an urdinthice was enacted giving the Town of Lees-
burg the powerand right to remove any -building orstructure considered
unsafe and dangerous to life or property. (A copy of this ordinance may
be found in the current Ordinance book. )
Councilatton presented to Council a tentative lease between
the Town of Leesburg and asr. need uohnson for the privilege of dumping

trash on his premises. •
There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded
and carried, council adjourned.

On motion of J.L.Mcintosh, seconded by C.W.Fiske and unani-
mously carried, the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Vir-
ginia, that the Town of Leesburg turn over to the State Highway
Secondary System one-quarter mile of streets, beginning at the corner
of Market and Ayre , streets, thence ohe block North to West Cornwall
street and extending East on Cornwall street fora total distance of
one quarter mile .
On motion of Mrs, Thelma J. Smoot , -seconded by C . W. Fiske and -
