At a Special meeting of the Mayor and the Town Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Thursday, September 8, 1949at 7:30 o' clock P. M. , there were present Maurice R. Lowenbach Jr. , Mayor, C. W. Fiske, J. L. Oliver, Emerson H. James, Thelma J. Smoot, Frances L. Patton, and Frank Raflo Councilmen. payor Maurice R. Lowenbach Jr; presented five application which he had received for the position of Auditor-Treasurer for the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia. The council agreed not to take any action in regards to this matter until a latter date. There being no further business, on motion duly made, seconded and carried , the Council adjourned, 8:15 O' clock P. M. ' Recorder. / iaiet. iSet.1, . Fiayor • Regular September 12, 1949. At a regular meeting of the Mayor and- Town Council of the- Town of Leesbur, in Virgiilfia held in the Council Chamberon Monday, September 12, 1949 at 7:30 O'clock P. M. there were present Maurice R. Lowenbach Jr; Mayor, Horace M. Hallett, Recorder, C. W. Fiske E. H. James, J. L. Oliver, Frances L. Patton, Frank Raflo, and Thelma J. Smoot, Council- men. The minutes of the last meeting were read and upon motion of J. L. Oliver, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unanimously carried, they were approved as read. On motion of Frances L. Patton, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unanimously carried the following resolution was- adopted: BELIT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Vi gime, that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to/the Culpeper Bi- Centenial.$8.00 to cover partical and remainder of cost for sending a repsenitative II from Loudoun County to the Culpeper Bi-Centenial On motion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he-is hereby authorized and directed to pay to each Offi.cal and Council man of the town of Leesburg, attending the Convention of the League of Virginia Municipalities the sum of $35.00. On motion of C. W. Fiske, seconded by Emerson H. James, and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia , that the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and the Council for the month of October be held on the third Monday night rather than the usual 2nd; Monday so as to permit any of the Town Official and Council men to attend the Convention of the League of Virinia Municipalit- ies, at Roanoke Virginia. l The Street Committee recommended that the side walks on the North side of Loudoun Street from the Whitmore property extending to Wirt Street, and form the Whitmore proper- ty on the North side of Market Street extending to Wirt Street, be replaced. Upon motion by France L. Patton, seconded by Emerson H. Jamesand unanimously carr- '' ied the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that in the future that all contractors submitting bids for the construction of side walks be re- quired to submitt bid.for said constuction to be concrete, or brick laid in cement. Upon motion of C. W. Fiske, seconded by Frank Raflo and unanimously carried that a letter be sent to the Leesburg Fire Company, Thanking them for the work they are in under taking to build a recreational center, and assuring them the support of the Mapnr and Council that they are able to give. Upon motion by Frances 1. Patton, seconded C. W. Fiske and unanimously carried the following resolution was adopted; BE IT .RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Aud- itor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby directed to purchase six (6) trash containers and . they are to be placed on the most need places on the street.
