At a special matting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virgins held in the Concil Chamber, on Janurary 23, 1951, at 7:30 oclock P.' M. there were- present Maurice R. Lowenbach, Jr; Mayor, C. W. Fiske, E. H. James, J. L. Oliver, . Francis L. Patton, Frank Raflo, and Thelma J. Smoot, Councilmen. Due to the absence of the recorder, upon motion duly made seconded and carried • Frank Raflo, was elected to serve as recorder for the said meeting. ' Upon motion of E. H. James, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unanimously carried the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. • The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of December 1950, and presented the current bills, and upon motion of J.• L. OLiver, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg that the Auditor-Treasur- er be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay the following bills: Virginia Electric & Power Comapny. • . Powell Harrison Appeared before Council and offered to the Town a strip of land 200 feet long and 5 feet wide to be used for the construction of a side walk by the V. F. W. House with the stipulation that the-side walk be constructed on- the south side of the street, and upon motion duly made seconded and carried Council, accepted this land. A request from Mr. Thomas S. Alexanderia was received and read whereas Mr. Alex= andria requested that an increased of $20.00 be granted for the removal of the Town - • garbbage. • Upon motion of E. H. James, seconded by C. W. Fiske, and unaminously carried the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized and directed to 'pay Mr. Alexandria $100.00 per month for the removal of the Town garbagge. Mayor Lowenbach prsented a letter and agreement regarding the airport property . and Mr. Author Godfrey. • Upon-motion duly seconded-;andtcarried-the-.following resolution-c;as adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Torn of Leesburg in Virginia, thatthe Peoples National Bank, of Leesburg, Virginia, be and they are hereby authorized and directed to change the name o said account from the ToWn of Leesburg, A. B. Richards Treasurer, to. the .Toun- o£.L;esburg, Robert C. Wenner, Treasurer, and that the_ estateW of the late' A s B."
