James, seconded by Winslow Williams, and unaminous- ly carried, Council 2uthorized 'the' em;loying of Ronald L. Athey, as a Town Police man at a salary of $'170:00 per month to replace S. C. Bell, who had to leave the force due to poor health. • Upon motion of Thelma J; Smoot, 'seconded by Winslow Williams, and unaminous- ly carried, Counil authorized the Auditor-Treasurer to pay the registration fee for any b6 the Town Policemen who wished- to take the course being given at the Community Colleage, and the Ahditor-Treasurer be authorized to employ some one to replace the policemen'while they were in said classes. III • Upon motion of Morton Riddle, seconded by Winslow Williams, and carried, by a vote of 4 to 2 Riddle, Williams, Claggett, and James: for Smoot and Newton against, the following 'resolution was ddopted: BE IT RESCLVED,'by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer, 'be and he is hereby authorized a_nd .directed to'purchase the police car for the'lowest bid as presented as of this date. Upon motion of Emmerson'H. James, seconded by Winslow Williams, and unaminous- ly carried the following'resolution was adopted: • BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to dicontinue the paying of milage to police men for the use of thier cars when the new police car •a is purchased. Upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Vernon L. Claggett, and carried by a vote of 4 to 1 James, Claggett, Newton and Riddle, for Smoot against, Williams • not voting, the Auditor-Treasurer was authorized and directed to have the side walN completed on East Loudoun Street as laid out by the Street Committe. Upon motion of Morton Riddle, seconded by Winslow Williams, and voted on as following Riddle, Williams, and Newton for Smoot, James, and Claggett, against, the vote being tied Mayor Dailey voted for the Following ordinance regulating parking on sections of East and West Market Street. At special meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Viginia, held in the Council Chamber on Friday, April 25, 1952, at 7:30 o'clock P. M. , there were present E. S. Dailey, Mayor, Hotace M. Hallett, Recorder, Vernon,L. Claggett, and Harry F. Newton, Councilmen. • The purpose of the meeting was-to allow any citizen of the Town. of Leesburg to present their views on the proposed budget for the fiscal year begining July, 1, •1952, and ending June, 30, 1953.
