Upon motion of Morton Riddle seconded by Winslow Williams, and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is herby authorized and directed to pay to each Offical and Councilman attending the convention of the League of Virginia Municip- alities to be held at Old Point Comfort, Virginia, on September 14, 15, and 16, 1952 the sum of $50.00 toward their expenses. • There being no further business upon motion duly made seconded and carried , Council adjourned. y 7, e 2, a tz. At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber, on Monday, September, 8, 1952, at 7:30 o8clock P. M., there were present E. S. Dailey, Mayor, Horace M. Hallett, Record- er, Vernon L. Claggett, Emmerson H. James, Thelma J. Smoot, and Winslow Williams, Councilmen. • The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Vernon L. Claggett, and unaminously carried were approved as read. The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of August, 1952, and presented the current bills, and upon motion of Vernon L. Claggett, seconded by Thelma J. Smoot, and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay the £olownng bills: . Virginia-Carolina Chemical Corp 15.38 • Armfield Harrison, & Thomas • - S 23.52 $1209.70 Mr. Emery Kirkpatrick, a member of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors appeared before the Council and discussed at some length the matter of having a fence installed around the two lime kills that are partly in the Town of Lees- burg and the remainder in Loudoun County. It was agreed that the Town of Lees- burg and the Board of Supervisor would write letters to the owners of said lime 70: Kills and request that they install a fence as a safety measure. Upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Winslow Williams and carried by a vote of 3 to 0 Mrs. Smoot not voting, the following resolution was adopted; . BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, that they recind their motion of August 11,1952, where by they agreed to accpept a deed from the - Washington Old Dominion Railroad for a certain pardel of land until the deed had beenpresented to the Town Council for it' s examination. Pr, Tiffiany of the Loudoun National Bank appeared before Council and stated that during heavy rains that sewage water backed into the bank base- . ment and asked that some help be given toward find the cause of this trouble. Council told Mr. Tiffiany that Mr. Hough would work with the bank's plumber at.any time to try and correct this condtion. Upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Vernon L. Claggett, and unaminsouly carried, the Auditor-Treasure was authorized to purchase a winter police uniform for officer Athey. Upon motion of Emmerson H. James, • seconded by Vernon L. Claggett, and carried • by a vote of 3 to 0 Mrs. Smoot not voting the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED,-by the Council of•the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer, -be and he.is hereby authorized and directed-to pay Victor Jackson $6,45•and•Lewis•Ball $4:05 for the use of their car , which they used while the Town Police-Car•was-being•repaired. Mayor Dailey appointed they-Trash•& Garrbage and the Sanitation Committee to investigate the•possibilities-of install a Land Fill either for the Town of Leesburg or with some of.the-other•Towas•in this area.
