Smoot, and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town-of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Sewage Committe, be and they-are hereby authorized and directed to • contact the Town's Attorney to detemine as to whether it is the resopnsi- bility to handle the said waste from the Leesburg Laundry. . _ Mr. Donald S. Wallace of the Department of Water Conservation talk to Council regarding the town water problem. Mr. Wallace stated that he would be unable to help the Town with it' s problem, since it was one that would have to be handled by a Consulting Engineer. - Mayor Dailey asked the Trash C' 'ttee to contact the Fire Department to see if the land between the FireField and the Town Dump could be used -in the event the Tom should install a land fill. Council voted to ask the Bemiss Company of Richmond, Virginia to sub- mitt a bid and specifations on a piece of equipment to operate a land fill with. Council further requested the Recorder to obtain additonal bids on • such equipment. . Upon motion of Morton Riddle, seconded by Harry F. Newton, and unam- inously carried the following resolution was adopted: - BE IT RESOLVED, by the Couhcil of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer; be and he is hereby authorized•and directed to have the following repairs made, 1-sidewalk at the Garrett Law Office, 2- Ramp at Brock Used.Car.lot, 3-.Ramp at Colonial Motor Sales.Co. , 4- Bridge and hand rail•at or-near Saffer's Mill 5- Sidewalk and curb in front of-a property owned by-Mr. •Savolopus. • Upon motion of-Morton Riddle, seconded by Harry F. Newton and unamin- ously carried the.following.resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by.the.Council.of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer, ,be and he is hereby authorized and directed to request the .Virginia State Highway Department to install a traffic Signal at the corners of.King and Loudoun Streets, and the Virginia4 'tate High- way Department be.further .requested .to erect signs at both the east and west ends of town, directing east.and west bound through traffic. Upon motion of .Emmerson H. .James, seconded by Vernon L. Claggett and unaminously•carriedthe following resolution was adopted: . BE IT RESOLVED, by.the .Council .of the Town of-Leesburg, in Virginia that the Any police:.man .having served bn the Town Police Force for a period of 12 months be given.two .weeks .pacation-with pay, or pay i4Leiu thereof. Upon motion of.Emmerson H. .James, seconded .by Vernon L. Claggett, and carried by a vote -of five .to 0 Mrs. .Smoot not voting, the following resolut- ion was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia • -that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized to accept and have recorded the deed for a parcel of land from the Washington Old Dominion Railroad. • There being no further business upon motion duly made seconded and carried Council adjourned. • . . h� i7 . October, 23, 1952, at 5:30 o'clock P. M., there were present E. S. Dailey, Mayor, Horace IA. Hallett Re- corder, Vernon L. Claggett, Emmerson H. James, Harry F. Newton, Morton Riddle Winslow Williams, Councilmen. . . . The Mayor stated that this meeting had been called to consider the purchas- ing of equipment for the operation of a land fill. •Mr. J. V. Apperson dicussed with Council the experince he had with the several different pieces of equipment that the Town was considering. BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that . the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to order the following piece of equipment from the Alban Tractor Equipment Co. 1 New Caterpillar D4 Tractor with HT4 Traxcavator , No; 44 Hydraulic Control, - Electric starting system, Rain Traps (2), Crankcase guard, 114 yd; capacity bucket, Bucket teeth, for the sum as per bid-- $10,971.30 - There being no further business upon motion duly made seconded, and carr- - ied Council adjourned. . -��-.- �. .al • Mayor. Tile Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly report for the month of October 1952, and presented the current bills, and upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Harry F.
