AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY SEWER REPAIR
CONTRACT WITH B&W CONSTRUCTION CO.
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret ("Borough") has experienced a failure to its 27"
sewer forcemain in Woodbridge; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Consulting Engineer, Donald J. Norbut, P.E., C.M.E., of
T&M Associates, has certified that said failure has created an emergency condition
threatening the public health, safety, and welfare through the potential release of se;ver
flows; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has recommended an award of a contract to B& W
Construction Co. to perform emergency repairs to said sewer rome main; and
WHEREAS, B&W Construction Co. presently has an existing contract with the Borough
to perform emergency repairs to the Borough sewer system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
1. The appropriate Borough officials are authorized and directed to enter
into a contract for emergency repairs to the Borough's 27" sewer
forcemain in Woodbridge with B&W Construction Co., as recommended
by the Borough Engineer, in the total amount not to exceed of
$500,000.00 in accordance with B&W Construction C.'s existing contract
with the Borough.
2. That this award is made as an emergency contract.
3. That this award in contingent upon the availability of funds for said
repairs.
4. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough Purchasing
Department and B&W Construction, Co.
Adopted this 14th day of August, 2003
and certified as a true copy of the
original on August 15, 2003.
