BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that on the delivery of the hereinbefore described note and upon the recordation of the first deed of trust securing the payment of said note on the land records of Loudoun County, the said Bank is authorized and directed to deposit the said sum of $15,000.00 to the account in said bank designated "Town of Leesburg, Virginia". BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Horace M. Hallett, Recorder for said Town, be and he hereby is, directed to deliver a certified copy of this resolution to The Peoples National Bank of Leesburg, Leesburg, Virginia. Ward, Auditor-Treasurer, be and he hereby is, authorized to draw a check on The Peoples National Bank of Leesburg for the sum of $12,500.00; mark the said check "for the full purchase price of properties on the North side of Loudoun Street, •Leestu rg, Virginia," and make the said check payable to Marguerite Diggs Sheppard, Nelson Garner Diggs, Jack- son L. Davis, Jr. , Lucille N. Roberts, Edith Greene and Robbie E. Taylor,and that said check shall be signed by William W. Michels, Mayor, and George E. Ward, Treasurer. BE IT ALSO RESOLVED, that George E. Ward, Auditor-Treasurer, be and he hereby is, authorized to draw a check on The Peoples National Bank of Leesburg, against the account of the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, for the sum of $22.75; mark said check "Recording costs for deed from Diggs Heirs on property on North side of,Loudoun Street," said check to be made payable to J. At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber on Monday January 11, 1954, there were present William W. Nickels, Mayor, Horace M. ' 105 The minutes of the last regular and special meeting were read and upon motion of Frank Raflo, seconded by Reginald K. Gheen and unaminously carried were woproved as read. "'The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month ending December 31, 1953, his quarterly statement for the quarter ending December, 31, 1953, and his annual report for the period ending December, 31, 1953, and upon motion of Maurice R. Lowenbach, Jr; seconded by Emmerson H. James, and unaminously carr- ied the following resolution was adopted : WHEREAS, the Auditor-Treasurer has presented - to the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia a quarterly report and annual report of all receipts and- analysis of all disbursementsfor the months of October, November, and December, 1953, and for the year ending December, 31, 1953, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED? by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, that the said quarterly, and annual re- port be and it is hereby accepted by the said Council, • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Lees- burg in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be he is hereby authorized and directed to have a copy of the said quarterly re- port published in a newspaper published in said Town and also to postA copy of said report in front of Court House in said Town. James, and unaminously carried the following resolution was ad- opted: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of .Leesburg in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby author- ized and directed to pay to The Loudoun County School Board the amount of $ 1, 632.20 regarding certain work pretaining to the water line to the new high school. Council requested the Mayor to open bids for the hauling of trash and garbage , and to set a date for a special meeting of Council to discuss wiht the bidders of the contracts. Mayor Nickels set the date of February, 22, 1954, at 7 :30 P. M. • Upon motion of .Howard B. Gill, seconded by Reginald K. Gheen, and unaminously carried the following resolution was ad- opted : WHERSAS, John T. Grimes has requested the Council of this 106 �- Town to include his property located between Loudoun, Fadi- ette and Church Streets, Leesburg, Virginia, in the "Business ' District" and remove the same from Residence District 11 ; and- WHEREAS, pursuant to the laws of the State of Virginia, it is provided that the Council is authorized to submit proposals, .amendments or supplements to 'any zoning regulations to the Board of Zoning. Appeals .for its report and recommendations after public hearing in reaation therto in manner and method provided by law; and, WHERAS, the Council belives that the requested change and amendment should be submitted to the Board of Zoning Appeals for its report and recomendation. NOW, THEREFORE,.•BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia: (1) That the said Council hereby refers to the Board of Zoning Appeals for report and recomendetion, the said request of John T. Grimes to change the present designation of his said _ property from that of "Residence District"11 to that of a "Busi- ness District", after a public hearing in relation therto to be held by the said Board in pursuance to law. • (2) That the Recorder of this Town shall forthwith deliver •a certified copy of this ordinance to the Board of Zoning Appeals. The Street Committe `submitted a report and made certain re- commendations regarding sign set back and etc. Upon motion of Maurice R. Lowenbach; Jr; seconded by Emmer- - son H.
