AWARDING CONTRACT FOR 2003 MISCELLANEOUS
BASE REPAIR PROGRAM
i WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret has publicly advertised for the receipt of
bids for the 2003 Miscellaneous Base Repair Program; and
WHEREAS, the Borough has solicited and received 4 bid proposals for the
miscellaneous base repair program as follows:
I 1. Defino Contracting, Co. $59,940.00
, 2. Marino Paving, Co. $69,050.00
3. Penaloza & Calderone Asphalt Co. $223,757.50
WHEREAS, Defino Contracting, Co. has submitted the lowest bid for said
contract as evidenced by the response on file with the Borough's Purchasing
Department; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has reviewed the above bid proposals and has
recommended the award of a contract to Defino Contracting, Co.; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial officer has certified that funds are or will be
available for said purpose.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret as follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to
enter into a contract with Defino Contracting, Co. for the 2003
Miscellaneous Base Repair Program for the sum of $59,940.00, in
accordance in all respects with the request for proposals and bid on
same, contingent upon necessary funds being available, review of
the bid documents by the Borough Attorney, and approval of the
New Jersey Department of Labor and Division of Wage and Hour
Compliance.
2. That a copy of this resolution be for~varded to the Borough
Engineer, Borough Purchasing Department, and Borough
Attorney.
Adopted this 14th day of August, 2003
and certified as a true copy of the
original on August 15, 2003.
