Pedestrian Crossings
All vehicles must stop for any pedestrian attempting to cross at any marked intersection, with or without lights. It is illegal to pass a car stopped at a crosswalk – visibility is restricted
so assume a pedestrian is crossing. Pedestrians, PLEASE, use marked crosswalks and always operate the lights. You are helping to train drivers! After pedestrians clear the intersection,
vehicles June proceed without waiting for flashers to stop.
WATCH OUT FOR CHILDREN!
Cyclists, please, use 2nd Ave/Van Horn bike routes. Cyclists have all responsibilities of vehicles, including stopping at stop signs! Cyclists also have all rights of motor vehicles.
Drivers must provide 3’ clearance when passing a cyclist!
Movies in the Park
This summer, the always-popular Movies in the Park series continues with:
June 15 – Aquaman
July 20 – The House with a Clock in its Walls
August 17 – Mama Mia
Bring your blankets, chairs, snacks, and kids to watch these free movies in Memorial Park at sundown; projection will show the movie on the Library’s north wall. Head to the gym in case
of rain!
Weather Siren Test Change
Beginning in June, weather siren testing will pull back to 11AM for Tybee, a different time than Chatham County. This time change will allow immediate voice notification following the
test to confirm, ‘This is a test.” Testing still takes place on the first Wednesday, June 5th this month.
Water Supply Line Replacement Project
Streets east of Butler are having water lines replaced at different times through September. These dates are subject to change - the full schedule is in a News Flash on the city’s web
site. Obviously, water will be out nearby while each upgrade is under way.
Work on Highway 80
The repaving project on Highway 80 between Lazaretto Creek and Bull River bridges is under way and expected to complete during the month of June. Until then, please drive exceptionally
carefully between Lazaretto Creek and Bull River Bridges – drivers have reported problems with traffic coordination between the two ends of the area that controls traffic while night
time construction is under way!
City Manager’s Morning In and Mayor’s Night In
City Manager Shawn Gillen is at Tybee Oaks’ Tybean most Fridays for coffee from 9-10AM. You’ll need your own coffee, but share of mind with the CM comes free! Please watch the city calendar
online, for schedule updates. Mayor Buelterman has a monthly Night In to discuss issues more appropriate to Council than to the City Manager. Mayor’s Night In is second Tuesday each
month. Call Jan LeViner, 472.5080, for an appointment.
