HomeMy Public PortalAbout1954_08_24SPEC Is( SPECIAL AUGUST 24, 1954 At a Special Meeting of the Mayor of the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, .held in the Council Chamber, August 24, 1954, at 8:15 o'clock P. M. there were present Maurice R. Lowenbach, Jr. Mayor, Horace M. Hallett, Recorder, ' Reginald K. Gheen, Howard B. Gill, and Frank Raflo, Councilmen. Mayor Lowenbach presented his Oath of.Office which had been duly administered by•Clerk .of the•Court, J. T. Martz. Upon motion of Frank Raflo, seconded by Reginald K. Gheen and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted: - BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that Mr. George J. Durfey be and he is hereby appointed and elected to the office of Councilman for the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, to serve out the unex- pired term of Mr. Maurice R. Lowenbach, Jr. Mayor Lowenbach administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Durfey. There being no further business on motion duly made seconded and carried_ Council adjourned. ie Mayor/ 7/ Recorder REGULAR SEPTEMBER, 13, 1954 Ata regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia held in the Council Chamber at 7:30 o ' clock' P. M. , there were present Maurice R. Lowenbach, Jr; Mayor, Horace M. Hallett, Recorder, George J. Durfey, Howard B. Gill, Reginald K. Gheen, Emmerson H. James, Frank Raflo, and Morton Riddle, 111, Councilmen. The minutes of the regular meeting of August 9th, the special - meetings of August 16th, August 18, August 23, and August 24th, 1954 were read and upon motion of Emmerson H. James, seconded by Reginald K. Gheen and unaminously carried the minutes of- the above mentioned were approved as read. The Auditor-Treasurer read his monthly statement for the month of August, 1954, and presented the current bills, and unpon motion of Morton Riddle, 111, seconded by Reginald K. Gheen, and unaminous- ly harried,wthe &obkowtdga.rese1dtion was adopted : • BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay the following bills : Virginia Electric & Power 'Company 275.12 Chesapeake & Potomac Tel ; of Va• 7.70 • L.
