Gill, - and carried by a vote of four (4) to nothing, Durfey, Gill, Hol- landsworth and Smoot, for, Gheen not voting, the following resol- ution was adopted :BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that the Mayor, be, and he is hereby authorized and di- rected to obtain at the earliest possible time an awaisal of the Tiffany Tract on the west side of Waterford Road, from a compe- 1 tent and qualified appraiser, in order that the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, may be advised as to the value of said property, both in whole and in part, for use for the cons- truction of a water reservoir for the Town of Leesburg, in Vir- ginia. • AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that it is the sense of this Council that the aforesaid tract of Harry I. Tiffany is the most practicable, feasible and 'desirable tract for the location of said water reservoir and the location' of said water reservoir • thereon will best promote and enhance the public interest of the citizens of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia. At a regular -meeting Of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Vlginia; held -in the Council Chamber, Monday, September 19, 1955,- 1-7 :30 "o' clock, -P. M. , there were present E. B. Lytle and Thelma -J: -Smoot: - -- The minute-ET-of -the special meetings of August, and 'the regular meeting of August were read, and Upon motion of George J. Durfey, seconded by-C.-"R.. Lytle, and unanimously carried were approved as read. -- - - --- - -- Mr. Duffel-made a report to the Council regarding the acceptance of the-seiner line in Woodberry Subdivision. Mr. Dur- fey stated that there-were tiro -items that- needed to be -corrected, and that both had""been -oaIled - to -the attention of the owners of Woodberry Subdivision, and to the Contractor, but as of this date he was not sure tfiat they had been-completed, nor bad the keys to:the-pumping station--bet—turned—over to the Town of Leesburg. Mr. Durfey-also reported that there were certain deficien- cies in the road,--curb and gutter -construction in Monroe Manor, and upon motion 6f George -J.• Durfey, seconded by C. R. Hollands- worth, and unanimously-carried, -the following resolution was adopted: - --- - - - - - •. iBE- IT RESOLVED;- by -the -Council of-tine Town -of Leesburg, in Virginia, that-the Monroe Manor -Corporation be advised of the deficiencies that were called to the attention of the Council by • Mr. Durfey in the road, curb and gutter construction, and that they. be requested to correct these deficiencies at once. Upon motion of Reginald _K. Gheen, and seconded by George _ J. Durfey, and unanimously carried, the folloding resolution was adopted : BE IT . RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia,, that Raymond L. Hough' s salary be increased from $3,000.00 „" to $3,300.00 per annum, effective September 1, 1955. < • AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the salary of Glendon ' Weatherholtz be increased from $2,700.00 to } 2,800.00 ice' annum, effective September 1, 1955. . f 242 A. letter from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company was read in which they made certain proposalt,regarding the install- ins of telephone call. boxes to be installed/strategic points in the Town. The Mayor requested that the Police Committee investigate the need for these telephone call boxes , and report back to the Council at they' next meeting Mayor White gave a brief report on the League of Virginia Muni- cipalities meeting held at Old Point. • Mayor White read a letter from Mr. Leonard W. Parker in which he requested certain information as to what the Town' s plans were for further annexation. The Council advised Mr. Park- er that they were considering the matter of annexation and hop- ed to be able to give an answer in the very near future. The Auditor-Treasurer presented his report for the month of August, 1955, and *the current bills , and upon motion of George J. Durfey, seconded by C. R. He called to the attention of the Council the matter of safety that was involved in which children had to walk out in Route No, 7 in passing the area where there was no side walk. This matter was referred to the street committee for their in- vestigation. U Upon motion of Reginald K. Gheen, seconded by Howard B. Gill, and unanimously carried, Council approved the following salaries : George E. Ward, Auditor-Treasurer, $4,000.00 per year; Officers Athey, Barton, and. SPECIAL, OCTOBER 6 , 1955 At a special meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, held in the Council Chamber, October 61h, 1955, at 1 :30 o' clock, P. M. , pursuant to a call of the Mayor regarding the opening of the bids for the erection of the water - and sewer system, there were present E. B. White, Mayor, George J. Durfey, Reginald K. Gheen, Howard B. Gill, C. R. Lytle, C. R. Hollandsworth, Thelma J. Smoot, Councilmen. Due to the absence of the Recorder, George J. Durfey was elected to serve as Recorder.
