license therefor, shall be fined Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), and for failing
to make any of the quarterly payments herein required the fine shall be Five Hundred
Dollars ($500.00) for each offense.
Any person or agent who shall fail to pay any fine imposed on him for the
violation of this ordinance, shall be imprisoned for not less than thirty days hor
more than sixty days.
This amendment shall become effective on and after July 1, 1956. , •
There being no further business on motion duly made, seconded and
carried, Council adjourned.

At a regular meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town of Leesburg in
Virginia held in the Council Chamber on Monday May, lh, 1956, at 7:30 o'clock
P. M; there were present E. B. White Mayor, Horace M. Hallett, Recorder, Geo
J. Durfey, Howard B. Gill, C. R. Hollandsworth, C. R. Lytle, and Thelma J. Smoot,
Councilmen.
The minutes of the regular meeting of April, 9, 1956, the special meetings
• of April, 17, 23,. 29, and May 8, 1956, and upon motion of C. R. Lytle, seconded
by George J. Durfey and unaminously carried were approved as.read.
The Auditor-Treasurer presented his monthly statment for the month of April,
1956, and presented his current bills and upon motion of C. R. Hollandsworth sec-
onded by George J. Durfey, and unaminously carried the following resolution was
adopted: .
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Audi-
tor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay the following
bills. .

Upon motion Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by Howard B. Gill and unaminously
carried the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED p.by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Auditor-Treasurer be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to charge
off the following licenses for the for the years 1955-1956:
Frank W. Hyde- -Real Estate Broker- - $ 10.00
Piedmont Frozen Foods- - Merchant-Retail $ 10.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that
the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to charge off
the following water bills:

Upon motion of Thelma J. Smoot, seconded by C. R. Hollandsworth and un-
01 aminously carried the following resolution was adopted:

Q ✓ BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, that
the State Auditing Department be and it is hereby requested to audit the records

of the Auditor-Treasurer of the Town of Leesburg, concering the town's finances
for one year, from July 1, 1955 through June 30, 1956, and the said town will
pay the Commonwealth of Virginia for making said audit, and Horace M. Hallett
Recorder, is authorized and directed tO excute a certified copy of this resolut-
ion to be mailed to the Auditing Department of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
A group of citizens appeared before Council and requested the block of
Alco Street from the mill area east be put in a better condtion. Mayor White
refered this matter to the Street Committee.
111A petition signed by some fifty business people of the Town of Leesburg
was presented and read to Council in which they requested that a trial of no
parking on one side of the streets be tried before accepting any plan for one
way street system.

Mr. Frank Cafrwell appeared before Council and discussed certain items
'that had been refered to the Town's Planning Commission by the Town's Engineer, .
and upon motion of Howard B. Gillseconded by Thelma J. Smoot and unaminously
carried, Council requested the Auditor-Treasurer to write to Mr. Paerrow and ,
Mr. Tarrant, and request that both of them appear before the Town Council as
soon as possible to discuss a number of problems. .
Mr. E. J. Orme and Mr. T. J. Hatcher appeared before Council and requested
that some thing be done toward repair the side walk in front of the_ properties
owned by them. Council assured both Mr. Orme and Hatcher that if they would
like to construct side walks in front of their properties, and would construct
• said side walks so they would conform to the Town's side walk plans that they
would be reimbursed at a rate set by Council.
Upon motion of Thelma J. Smoot seconded by George J. Durfey, and unamin-
ously carried the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, that
the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and directed to pay the
following bill.

There being no 11 further business, and upon motion duly made seconded and
carried Council adjourned.
