White, 1i,ayor, Horace M. Hallett, Recorder, George J. Durfey, Reginald K. . Gheen, Howard . B. Gill, C. R. Hollandsworth and Dr. James T. Jackson Councilmen. Upon motion of Reginald K. Gheen, seconded- by Howard B. Gill and unaminously carried the following resolution was' adopted : BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in I Virginia, that Mae Bass Mitchell be and she is duly elected as a member of the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia to serve the unexpired term of C. R. Lytle. Mayor White tadministered the oath of office as Councilman to Mrs. Mae Bass Mitchell. Upon motion of Reginald K. Gheen seconded by Dr. James T. Jack- son, and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted : `, M BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virg- M inia that Lee Brothers be and they are hereby given permission to • < connect to the town water system so as to furnish water for a house Qthey have built on the east end of town. in an area known as the Lowenbach Sub-Division, and • BE- IT FURTER RESOLVED, that alll -persons planning to connect to the town water system, should secure permission from the town before starting construction. Council out lined certain suggestion they felt would be most important in drafting a trash and gargage ordinance, and with these suggestion Council requested the Trash and- Garbage Committee to -• -prepare an ordinance regulating the storage and collection and 111present same to Council for their consideration at their regular meeting in April. Council discussed Proposals of Insurance Coverage, and insist,- tructed the Insurance Committee to get additional imformation. Councilman Durfey reported that he felt that a retaining wall should be constructed on the west property line of the park- ing lot adjoining the property of Mrs. Paul and The Masonic Lodge which was about 12'' feet, and that a estimate from •W. R. Altizer to construct a wall 8" underground 16" above ground and 8" thick would be 3350.00, and upon motion of George J. Durfey,/ seconded by C. R. Hollandsworth , and unaminously carried? ,• Council author- ized the said work to be done. Dr. Jackson was not present for the vote on this matter. • Upon motion of Howard S. Gill seconded by George J. Durfey and unaminously carried the following resolution was adopted : BE IT •RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is. hereby authorized and directed to advertise •for bids for the purchase of the towns old light standards and fixtures, for all or -a part of the said fixtures. And that the bids will be considered at the councils regular meeting in April. ' There •being no further business and upon motion duly made seconded and carried Council adjourned. ceid...
