At a special meeting of the Town Council for the Town of
Leesburg . in Virginia , held November 26, 1957 in the Council
Chambers .of the Town of Leesburg , pursuant to written waiver
of notice which appears immediately preceding the minutes of
this meeting . which said meeting was -held at 10 : 30 A. M. there
were present : George J. Durfey . Mayor; Elinor M. Cunningham,
Recorder ; Howard W. Gill , C. R. Hollandsworth , Redd Johnson .
Mae Bass Mitchell , Oden Semones and J. -Austin Wright .
The purpose of this meeting , at the request of Mr . Hollands-
worth , a member of the Street Committee , was to consider the
advisability of rounding a corner in Mr . W. J . Cox ' s driveway
on Cornwall Street and the replacing of water meter by the
Town of Leesburg .
Upon motion of Mr . Semones , seconded by Mr . Johnson , Gill ,
Johnson, Mitchell , Semones and Wright noting for and Hollandsworth
voting against , the following resolution was adopted :

RESOLVED, That the Town of Leesburg in Virginia restore the
CO sidewalk on Cornwall Street to its original form and also to
leave the water meter in the exact location as it has heretofore
cl
been. -
Upon motion of Mrs . Mitchell , seconded by Mr . Wright . the
following resolution was adopted ; Gill , Holland worth , Mitchell
and Wright voting for and Johnson and Semones voting against :
RESOLVED, That the Street Committee be and they are hereby
directed to prepare an overall plan for sidewalks , curbs and
gutters for the year 1958, the same to be presented at the
Council meeting in January , for consideration , with action to
be taken thereon at the February meeting following notice of
' the consideration of the proposal .
There being no further business to- come before the meeting ,
upon motion duly made and seconded the meeting adjourned .

SPECIAL MEETING, November 12 , 1957
At a special meeting of the Mayor and Council of the Town
of Leesburg , in Virginia ; heldjin the Council Chambers Tuesday .
November 12 , 1957 at 12: 00 Noon, the following were present :
George J. Durfey , Mayor ; Howard B. Gill , Mrs . Mae Bass Mitchell
Oden K. Semones , Reed Johnson, J . Austin Wright and C. R.
Hollandsworth , Councilmen.
'In the absence of the Recorder , on motion duly made , seconded
and darried , Mrs . Mae Bass Mitchell was appointed to servetas
II Recorder Fro-tem.
The Mayor stated that the meeting has been called to consider
an appointment to the Police Force . .
Upon'motion of Mr. Gill , seconded by Mr . Wright , and unan-
imously carried , the following resolution was adopted :

BE IT RESOLVED, by .the Council of the Town of Leesburg ,
in Virginia , that Maurice Dwyer be and he is hereby appointed
as a Police Officer for the Town of Leesburg in Virginia, be-
ginning December 1 , 1957 , at a monthly salary of $225.00 per
month , payable semi -monthly .
There being no further business , on motion duly made ,
seconded and carried , Council adjourned .

REGULAR MEETING, December 9, 1957
•
At a regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Leesourg,
in Virginia, held in the Council Chambers on December 9, 1957, at
7:30 P. M. , there were present : George J. Durfey, Mayor; Howard
B. Gill; C . R. Hollandsworth; Reed Johnson, Mae Bass Mitchell,
Oden Semones and J. Austin Wright.
The minutes of the regular meeting of. the Council held on •
November 11, 1957, the special meeting of the Council held on
November 12, 1957 and the minutes of the special meeting of tie
Council held on November 26, 1957 were read and upon motion of .
Mae Bass Mitchell, seconded by C. R. Hollandsworth, were approved
with the following amendments; ( 1) That Mr . Maloy Fith back was
to be employed by the Town to finish the sidewalk on East Corn-
wall Street, and (2) That Mr. Hollandsworth offered to make,
free of charge , one frame for the maps to be placed in the Town
Office .
The Auditor-Treasurer then presented the financial state-
ment and special sewer debt fund for the month of November.
Upon motion of Reed Johnson, seconded by J. Austin Wright ,
the following resolution was unanimously carried:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in
Virginia, that the Auditor-Treasurer be and he hereby is autho-
rized and directed to pay the following bills :
Virginia Electric & Power Co. $ 367.58.
C .&P. Telephone Co. of Virginia 44.80 ,
Hankey ' s Radio Service 8.00 -
