HomeMy Public PortalAbout1958_05_08SPEC 162 SPECIAL MEETING, May 5, 1958 After notice duly given by publication in a newspaper hav- ing general circulation in. the Town of Leesburg, a public hearing was held by the Council of the Town of Leesburg, in Virginia, on May 5, 1958 at 7 :30 P. M. in the Town Office Building, to consider the proposed amendments to the Leesburg Subdivision Ordinance,. at which meeting there were present : Howard B. Gill, Vice Mayor ; Elinor M. Cunningham, Recorder; C". R. Hollandsworth, Reed Johnson, Mae Bass Mitchell, Oden Semones and J. Austin Wright. • Upon motion of Mr. Hollandsworth, seconded by Mr. Wright , the following resolution was readopted, due to the fact that the proposed amendments to theiZoning Ordinance for the Town of Lees- burg had not been published for two consecutive weeks . BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and the Council of the Town of Leesburg, that the Zoning Ordinance be adopted with the changes as read. ( Said Zoning Ordinance appears later in this Minute • Book and is appended hereto and incorporated herein by reference. ) , and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Zoning Administrator be instructed and directed to publish the proposed charges in the • -J-Zoning Ordinance in some newspaper having .general circulation in the Town of Leesburg for two consecutive weeks, after which time a public hearing of interested citizens .will be held. ' There being no further business to come before the meeting , upon motion duly made and seconded, adjourned. . (./`MAS'✓ / ecorder M=v.r / SPECIAL MEETING, May 8, 1958 At a special meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Leesburg held on May 8, 1958 at 7 : 30 P. M. in Council Chambers, there were present: George J. Durfey, Mayor , Elinor M. Cunningham, Recorder; Howard B. Gill, C. R. Hollandsworth, Reed Johnson, Mae Bass Mitchell, Oden Semones and J. Austin Wright . The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the Plumbing Code. Mr. Martin, the newly elected Town Attorney, read the Plumbing Code as proposed with the changes that he and Mr. Mayers had worked on. Upon motion of Mr . Gill, seconded by Mr. Hollandsworth , it was : . RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Leesburg, that Mr. Mayers obtain samples of questions that would be necessary for a plumber to obtain a license as master plumber . have Mr. Martin advised the Council that he would copies of the Plumbing Code available far each Councilman for their further consideration, to enable them to be familiar with each and every provision thereof. 163 .It was generally agreed by the Council members that a special meeting would be held on May 15, 1958, at which time the aforesaid Plumbing Code would be considered for final adoption and the proposed Sanitation Code would be discussed in detail . • There being no further business to come before the meeting , the meeting upon motion duly made and seconded, adjourned. • / Recorder Adil � May ./ REGULAR MEETING, May 12, 1958 M Q Q At a regular meeting of the Council of the Town of Leesburg, +—. in Virginia, held in Council Chambers on May 12, 1958 at 7: 30 P. M. there were present: George J. Durfey, Mayor ; Elinor M. Cunningham, Recorder; Howard B. Gill,frae'RSa4glllinc Yawcifth,Oden Semones,' J. Austin Wright, Reed Johnson arriving late, being all of the Councilmen. The minutes of the regular meeting held on April 14 , 1958 were read and upon. motion of Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Wright and unanim- ously carried were adopted as read. The minutes of the special meeting held on April 24, 1958 were read and upon motion of Mrs . Mitchell, seconded by Mr. Hollandsworth , and unanimously carried were adopted as read. The minutes of the special meeting of May 1 , 1958 were read and upon motion of Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr . Wright andunanimously carried, were adopted as read. The minutes of the special meeting held on May 5, 1958 were read and upon motion of Mr . Hollandsworth, seconded by Mr. Wright , ' and unanimously carried, were adopted as read. The minutes of the special meeting of May 8, 1958 were read and upon motion of Mr. Hollandsworth, seconded b: Mrs. Mitchell, and unanimously carried, were approved as read. Upon motion of Mr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Wright, Gill , Hollandsworth, Mitchell and Wright voting for and Semones against, it was : RESOLVED, That the Auditor-Treasurer be and he is hereby authorized and'directed to pay the following bills: Virginia Electric & Power Co. $ 390.68 C. & P. Telephone Co. of Virginia 96.58 Hankey' s Radio Service 8•U) L. S.
