SPECIAL MEETING, JULY 23, 1959
At a special meeting of the Council of the Town of Lees-
burg, held in Council Chambers at 5 :00 P. M. , there were pre-
sent , Elinor M. Cunningham, Recorder, C. Meloy Fishback,
Howard B. Gill , Reed Johnson, Mae Bass Mitchell :and J. Austin
Wright , Councilmen. .
In the absence of the Mayor the Recorde(Z presided 'and call-
' ed the meeting to order.
The Acting Mayor stated that this 'special meting had

been called at the request of the Town Attorney.
The Town Attorney then presented a Motion for Judgment
filed by Mrs . Lucille Pierce against theTown of Leesburg in
the sum of $250,000.00 for alleged damages sustained due to
a fall on the sidewalks of the Town of Leesburg.
Upon motion of Mr. Gill , seconded by Mr. Wright , and
unanimously carried, Council went into Executive session.
Upon motion of Mr. Wright , seconded by Mr. Gill , and un-
animously carried, it was :
RESOLVED, By the Counciloof the Town of Leesburg; in
Virginia, that the Town Attorney be and he is- hereby autho-
rized and directed to employ Stilson H. Hall, :squire, to
assist him in the trial-of thedsuit instituted by Mrs .
Lucille Pierce against the Town of Leesburg; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That- if necessary the Town Attorney
is hereby authorized and directed to employ such other counsel
as the nature of the case may require .
There being no further business to come before the meeting, IIupon motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned.
