1993- 04 -19. Special 1% City Council Minutes, Apr. /93
The Tybee Island City Council held a Special Called meeting on
Monday, April 19, 1993 to discuss the 1% Sales Tax Referendum
Projects.
Mayor Walter W. Parker called the meeting to order in the Mayor's
office at 8 A.M. with the following members of Council present:
Jimmy Brown, Christopher Solomon, James P. Locklear, Ansley
Williams, and Burke Day. Councilman Jack Youmans was out of town.
A letter with a priority list must be submitted to Chatham County
Commissioners today.
Councilman Williams said that he feels that the sales tax should
be for 5 years. The extra year would bring in $30,000,000.00, 35%
of this tax would come from people outside of Chatham County.
Councilman Locklear said that it should be stated in the letter
that Tybee is showing the initiative by the Palms Up Project.
Councilman Williams made a motion that the priority list should
be #1 Pier /Pavilion; #2 Beach Stabilization; #3 Paving (send a list
of the streets to be paved); #4 Gym. Councilman Day seconded.
Rownea Fripp will speak with Russ Abolt before writing the
proposal. The Vote by Council was unanimous. Councilman Brown had
to leave on a 911 Rescue Call and was not present for the vote.
The Mayor mentioned that he has a estimated cost of $60.00 to
clean the monument outside City Hall.
The Mayor adjourned the meeting.
