Special Called Council Meeting The Tybee Island City Council met on September 28, 1993 for a Special Called Meeting to discuss purchasing 1 Flat Dump truck, 1 Box Dump truck, and a Step Van. Mayor Walter W. Parker presided with the following members of Council present: Christopher P. Solomon, Jack Youmans, James P. Locklear, Ansley Williams, C. Burke Day, and Jimmy Brown. Councilman Locklear explained that the bids on this equipment run out on September 30, 1993 and this is why he asked Mayor Pro tem Jack Youmans to call this special meeting. Department Head Billy Pye gave each member a copy of each bid. Mr. Pye explained why he wanted the diesel trucks. The lowest bids were from Family Ford. Mrs. Fripp stated that GMA Leasing Program is use to working with Family Ford. Mayor Parker asked if our mechanic is capable of working on diesel engines. Mr. Pye said that Mr. Wells was a heavy equipment mechanic before coming to work for Tybee. Mayor Parker asked Mr. Pye about the trucks we have now. Mr. Pye said that we would sell them. Mrs. Fripp said we needed to have an auction. Low Bids are: Flat Dump truck - $27,642.32 Box Dump truck - $27,374.32 Step Van - $13,800.00 Mrs. Fripp said with current GMA rates the payments would be $2,018.02 for 3 years. Councilman Locklear moved to approve the purchase of the trucks and van. Councilman Day seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous. Meeting was adjourned. Clerk of Council 1 yor W. Parker
