Box 128 Tybee Island, GA 31328 Dear Ms. Fripp: The Georgia Municipal Employees Benefit System's (GMEBS) Life and Health Insurance Fund has completed its annual review of claims experience for the membership. Based on this review, it is necessary to adjust health insurance rates in order to maintain premiums sufficient to keep pace with the cost of health care and to keep the Fund financially sound. This is the first increase since December, 1992. Rates for life, accidental death and dismemberment, and dependent life coverages (as well as short -term disability and dental if applicable) will remain the same. The new rates are as follows: NEW RATES EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 1993 Employee $180 Dependent $243 The GMEBS Board and GMA staff realize that many of the Fund's members are experiencing austere financial times, and consequently, we are constantly reviewing the, benefit plans to make cost saving changes which will help to hold; down insurance costs. GMEBS has been able to hold rate increases significantly below the annual medical inflation rate due to these changes. On behalf of the GMEBS Board, we appreciate your continued support of the GMEBS Life and Health Insurance Fund.
