REJECTING BIDS AND REAl_ THORIZING RECEIPT OF BIDS FOR
THE ROOSEVELT AVENUE PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS
ROJECT
WHEREAS, the Borough c Carteret previously authorized the
preparation of bid specifications and advertisement for receipt of bids for the
Roosevelt Avenue Improvements pr, ect; and
WHEREAS, on August 6, 2 )3 the Borough received only a single bid
for the reference project in the amou at of $162,090 from Diamond Construction
of Dunellen, New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, the above bid z~as significantly in excess of the engineer's
estimate for the project by over 30 :rcent; and
WHEREAS, said bid is si ificantly in excess of the funding the Borough
has initially anticipated for the proje :t; and
WHEREAS, the Borough e~ tgineer has recommended the rejection of said
bid and the authorization to re-adve~ ise for the same.
NOW, THEREFORE, be il resolved by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret as follows:
1. The bid of Diamond Constnction for the bid on the Roosevelt Avenue
Improvements project bid fa the amount of $162,090 is hereby rejected.
2. The appropriate Borough of ials are hereby directed to take necessary
action to re-advertise for bid s for said project.
3. That a copy of this resolutio ~ be forwarded to the Borough engineer,
T&M Associates, and the B, ~rough's purchasing department for
appropriate action, includin; the return of the relevant bid documents to
Diamond Construction
Adopted this 8th day of August and
certified as a true copy of the original on
August 11 ,2003.
