APPROVING PAYMENT FOR PSE&G FOR ROOSEVELT AVENUE
/-WASHINGTON AVENUE STREETSCAPE PROJECT - DECORATIVE
STREET LIGHTING
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret desires to purchase decorative street
lighting and associated lighting from PSE&G as part of its Roosevelt
Avenue/Washington Avenue Streetscape Project; and
WHEREAS, PSE&G has submitted a proposal to supply and install the desired
decorative street lighting at a cost of $189,356.50; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A.. 40A:l 1-5(0 of the Local Public Contracts Law
sets forth an exemption form the bidding requirements for public contracts with regard to
the supplying of any product or the rendering of any service by a public utility, which is
subject to the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities, in accordance with tariffs and
schedules of charges made, charged or exacted, filed with the board; and
WHEREAS, the proposed purchase and installation of the decorative street
lighting desired by the Borough satisfies the provisions of the above exemption; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's consultant engineer for the project, EKA Associates,
P. A., has reviewed PSE&G's proposal and has recommended that the governing body
enter into a contract with PSEG for said purchase and related services.
NOW, THEREFORE, may it be resolved by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret as follows:
1. That the proposal from PSE&G for the supply and installation of
decorative street lighting for the Roosevelt Avenue/Washington Avenue
Streetscape project in the amount of $189,356.50 is hereby approved
2. That the appropriate Borough officials and hereby authorized and
directed to take the necessary actions to enter into a contract with, and
provide for payment to, PSE&G for said decorative street lighting.
3. That a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Borough's
purchasing department and EKA Associates for appropriate action.
4. That the award is made as an exemption to the requirements of the
Local Public Contracts law pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:l 1-5(f).
