HomeMy Public PortalAbout1232.1 - Economic Development - City Planning - Long Range PlanningEconomic Development Department City Planning Bureau Section 1232.1 1232.1 SUBJECT: LONG RANGE PLANNING :1 OBJECTIVE: Provide comprehensive planning services to the City of Orlando through the development, implementation, and monitoring of Growth Management Plans and Programs. :2 AUTHORITY: This procedure amended by City Council October 11, 2004, Item A4. :3 DIRECTION: The Chief Planner, overseeing this section, receives direction from the City Planning Director. :4 FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of policies, plans and programs in support of the Orlando Growth Management Programs. 2. Coordinates the development and/or maintenance of a demographic, economic, and land use information system to monitor the pace and characteristics of community growth and the effectiveness of Growth Management policies, plans, and programs. 3. Renders technical and professional support to the Historic Preservation Board, Municipal Planning Board, Board of Zoning Adjustment, Downtown Development Board, other staff and citizen boards and committees, other City departments, offices and divisions, and City Council in matters relating to growth management and community development activities. 4. Reviews all development projects and proposals for compliance/consistency with Growth Management Plan guidelines and applicable land development codes. 5. Prepares agendas, schedules meetings and processes minutes of the Baldwin Park Town Design Review Committee. 6. Processes applications for amendments to the Growth Management Plan, including preparation of schedules, advertisement and presentation before Municipal Planning Board and City Council. Packages amendments for State review and coordinates with State of Florida Department of Community Affairs. 7. Provides professional services for the preparation of activity center plans, urban design plans, functional plans for such elements as historic preservation, housing, land use and community facilities and services, and in the development, enactment and monitoring of land development regulations supporting adopted Growth Management Plan goals, policies and required actions. Provides liaison with other City, County, State and Federal governmental agencies, community organizations, and the general public for the purpose of promoting coordination, interest, understanding and assistance in accomplishing the objectives, plans, programs and strategies of the City's Growth Management effort. :5 FORMS: As stated herein. :6 COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES: None. :7 REFERENCE: City Charter Chapters 1, 11, 12; City Code Chapters 2, 33, 35A, 40, 56, 58-67; Florida Statutes Chapters 163 and 380; adopted August 23, 1992, #19; amended June 21, 1993, Item 2-P; amended May 15, 1995, Item pp; amended October 11, 2004, Item A4. :8 EFFECTIVE DATE: This procedure effective October 11, 2004.
