1994- 02 -23. Special Called Meeting
Mayor James P. Locklear opened the Special called Meeting
for business legally presented. The following members of Council
were present: Jack Youmans, Paul Jackson, Burke Day, Phil O'Dell,
and Mayor Pro Tem Katrina Hughes. City Attorney Edward Hughes was
also present to represent the city on legal issues.
Councilmember Jack Youmans made a motion to close the
meeting and go into executive session to discuss lawsuits,
Councilmember Hughes seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous.
Attorney Hughes explained the letters from Savannah Beach
and Racquet Club and the Lighthouse point condos concerning a
settlement on the water bills. After discussion Councilmember
Youmans moved to stand firm on the offer to settle with S.B.R.C.
in the amount of $38,250.00. Councilmember Day seconded, but he
also asked that the motion be amended to state that S.B.R.C. had
30 days to answer. Councilmember Youmans seconded the amendment.
Councilmember Youmans moved to amend the motion by adding the
S.B.R.C. has 3 years to pay the $38,250.00 with no interest fee.
Councilmember Day seconded this amendment.
Vote on the amendment moved by Councilmember Youmans
was unanimous by Council.
Vote on the amendment moved by Councilmember Day was
unanimous by Council.
Vote on the original motion made by Councilmember Youmans
was unanimous by Council.
Councilmember Youmans motioned to handle Lighthouse Point
Condos in the same manner as Savannah Beach Racquet Club.
Councilmember Jackson seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous.
Mayor Locklear asked Attorney Hughes if there were any other
lawsuits that needed to be discussed. Councilmember Day asked
about the M.R.S. suit. Attorney Hughes said that it was settled.
Attorney Hughes said that there are two old suits; 1 - Keith
Murphy; 2 - Tax assessment with a property owner. Councilmember
Day moved to adjourn the closed meeting with Councilmember
Youmans seconding. Vote by Council was unanimous.
Mayor Locklear reconvened the special called meeting.
Councilmember Youmans moved to adjourn. Councilmember Day
seconded. Vote by Council was unanimous.
